Did you follow along with the Moda Friendship Quilt Along? I followed along and printed and saved my favorite blocks to make a solids quilt. You see, my very first quilt was made with three solids: a sky blue, a grass green, and a bright white. The quilt was a Double Irish Chain from Eleanor Burns’ Quilt in a Day series. It was my older son’s favorite quilt, but I haven’t made a solids quilt since.
Here are my first three blocks made with Bella solids from the “Brights” bundle and a lime green Bella from my stash.
First I made one of the extra blocks from the quilt-along wrap-up post.
Next I made Aneela Hoey’s block.
And finally I made Julie Comstock’s block.
I’m excited to see how this quilt will turn out with a whole rainbow of Bella colors–
I’m posting about these blocks on the Moda Cutting Table blog today where I’ve listed the exact Bella color numbers if you would happen to need any for your stash!
I’ll be posting more about this quilt and including direct links to the blocks I make each week or two. Would anyone like to quilt along? Is three blocks every two weeks too much? Would three blocks a month be better? I’d love to hear your ideas–and what a fun parade it would be to have an entire post of solids sampler quilts!

That sounds like a great idea, Sheri. I've been collecting solids for quite a while now, and this would be a fun project to delve into now that some other's are finished. Keep me posted.

I probably won't be able to keep up, but I will certainly save all of the block information. I'll get to the project sometime.

Love the purple and pink!

Oh I love your blocks! I don't think I've ever been tempted to do a quilt in solids, but I am now. They are stunning!

That looks fun! I saved the block patterns from the Moda friendship blocks, and I've been starting a collection of solids. That would work out nicely. I think 3 blocks a month would be my speed, since I'm trying to do the Blogger Girls block of the month and also trying to catch up on Lori Holt's Row Along, and of course finish up some of the other quilts I've started before these great quilt alongs!! And speaking of quilt alongs, are the Schnibbles quilt alongs happening this year? Thanks so much, Helen

Sherri, I would love to quilt along. I tried to download these patterns but gave up as some weren't so easy to find. I have a stash of solids that would be great to dig into.

Oh I think I'd like to make these blocks in solids! I'm not sure I have enough on hand to get through the entire quilt but I know I can get a good start. I have gone back through the posts and find that I only have 28 blocks and it seems to me there was supposed to be EXTRA (which I got from the Cutting Table post). I don't have Jenn Ski or Laundry Basket for sure. 🙁

I would most definitely consider it. doing a solids based quilt a long sounds fun.

Really pretty colors. I'm going to have to try one.

That's a great idea and not one I would have thought about. But then, almost all of my Bella solids are shades of white and there's not much contrast. Might be interesting to try a block or two in whites though.
I love how your blocks turned out.

I would love to do 3 blocks a month. Thanks for the chance to try this in solid colors.

I actually recently bought a great solids bundle from Joanna of Fig Tree Quilts that I would LOVE to do something with, Great great idea !!!!
Monthly would probably work best for me but I will try to tag along any which way 🙂

Doing "solids" sounds perfect to me. I'm truly going to have to get some additional Bella Solids for a quilt.
Cindy says
The quilt along is a wonderful idea – and using solids sounds right up my alley!! 3 every 2 weeks doesn't sound bad at all. Whatever you decide – works. I'll be off buying some Bella Solids ASAP.
Thanks, Sherri.

Love these blocks in solids Sherri! I downloaded all of the patterns as well, just have a few other items to finish before I can start. Can't wait to see your progress.

It is beautifully sunny here in northern california, my light green and purple clematis is just beginning to open–wish you could all see it!. I really hope to win the new S is for Stitching book as I am a maniac embroiderer–wouldn't be a good day without making some stitches. janicelashley@gmail.com

Sounds like a great idea. I prefer 3 a month, if you are still asking. I have so many projects going right now that I can't put anymore on my plate but this one I could. I already have the solids bought. Piece and blessings, Vicki

How do you get the patterns for the blocks? I have loads of solids.

You have such a way with color. When I saw the stack of solids, I was like, "those are okay." Then I saw your blocks and was like, "those are awesome! the colors are amazing." Honestly, I don't know how yo do it!

Oh, what a fun idea! Just printed the patterns and now I'm going to start digging through the stash! Yay!!
