Hello and happy Wednesday! I’ve been having fun with some simple and fun projects lately and thought you might like to see a few of the ideas I’ve come up with.
Sometimes making something quick and fun is all you need to get re-inspired to
tackle bigger projects (and sometimes all you have time for is something simple and fast)! And…making a few small projects in a short amount of time can really give you a great sense of accomplishment!
The other day I saw these adorable little storage baskets on the Jolly Jabber blog and on Instagram. I watched the video and pretty soon I was sewing. You just need two layer cake squares (or scraps 10″ x 10″) and a piece of Soft & Stable 9 ½″ x 10 ½″ to make this fun little catch all. It goes together quickly and easily, and you might just have to make more than one (I’m going to be picking out a few more fabric combinations for a few more of these little baskets).
The size of this Petit Four basket designed by Annie Unrein is just right…it’s a perfect catch-all to hold thread spools, fabric (I have folded fat quarters in the photo above), or even Clover Wonder Clips. You can watch the video here:
Another small project I recently made was a new key fob. I love using a fabric key fob because it makes it easier to find my keys in my purse, and sometimes it’s nice to be able to put my keys on my wrist when I’m carrying a lot of things but need my keys handy.
There are a lot of tutorials out there for key fobs with a lot of them using colored webbing that you sew ribbon to before inserting into the metal hardware. But this patchwork version is my favorite. You can find the hardware here: BCP 25sets 1 ¼ Inch Key Fob Hardware /Wristlet Sets with Key Ring (this link is for a 1 ¼″ wide key fob, but you can also find 1″ wide fob hardware–the hardware also comes with instructions).
I’m going to be making more of both of these projects soon (I’m pretty sure as soon as my daughters see my new key fob they’ll be asking for one)!
And…you can find more ideas for fast and fun small projects on my Small Projects Pinterest board!
Happy sewing! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love your little fabric basket. I made the exact same one just yesterday! So cute, so quick, so easy. I'm going to make a few more to have little gifts on hand. Now I need to make a key fob. I have two like that, one I bought and one I won in a giveaway. I've always wanted to make one, too. Thanks for your great blog!

Love the baskets – so cute! I saw that key fob and immediately thought 'belt'. So I think I may have to make myself a patchwork belt. Love all your quilting inspiration.

basket so practical and pretty too, I have done one using bosal presume soft and stable is similar, makes things keep their shape without being stiff. Good idea for keys too, off to watch the video now might be an easier make than the one I did with a bit of luck
