Tomorrow is the Simply Small Parade, but I thought I’d introduce the next project today. If you are new to “Simply Small,” this is a monthly blog post and parade where I feature projects made with Moda Candy 2 ½″ squares. Last month I did an informal survey and many people suggested a pillow project would be fun; so I happily introduce the “Simply Small Patchwork Pillow.” This pillow is a nice sized 16″ square, and best of all it requires just one Moda Candy pack to make! If you don’t want to make a pillow, this is also a nice sized project for a mini-wall hanging, or you could add an additional border to make a table topper.
I used French General’s Le Bouquet Francais along with Moda’s Mochi Linen in Natural. It was the perfect chance to play with this new linen fabric before I use it for a new quilt design next week. And I absolutely loved working with this linen. It doesn’t ravel like some linens, and it presses beautifully. It is a little heavier than quilting cotton, but it didn’t make a difference in my piecing.
I used some older French General fabrics in my stash for a scrappy backing and binding. I did a zipper back using this Sew Mama Sew Tutorial.
The PDF pattern for the Scrappy Patchwork Pillow is in my Craftsy pattern store now. (Each participant in each month’s “Simply Small” parade will get the next month’s pattern as a thank you from me for participating–so if you’ve sent in a photo for tomorrow’s parade you’ll be receiving this from me via e-mail). I appreciate everyone’s participation so much, and it seems a simple way to say “thank you.”
Okay, that’s all for now…I’ll be back tomorrow with the parade!
PS I’m currently doing some “spring cleaning” in my studio and will slowly be adding a few quilt and bag samples for sale in my Etsy shop…I’ve recently added 2 baby quilts along with a patchwork bag.

Very cute pillow, Sherri.
I haven't used Mochi Linen yet but I believe Carrie Nelson just used it in a quilt. Need to try it soon.
