Hello! I’ve been working on a scrappy quilt that I’ll be sharing a free tutorial for soon. I’ll be sharing directions on the blog and will have a PDF available with material requirements and cutting instructions for two different sizes of this fun quilt. It’s perfect for scraps or for left over jelly roll strips.
My quilt shipped off to be quilted today, and as soon as it’s home I’ll have the full tutorial available. I also want to share a little bit about a terrific ruler you
might have heard of. It’s the Creative Grids Stripology ruler, and it’s absolutely fantastic for cutting strips, squares, rectangles, and even diamonds! I filmed a video with Kimberly at the Fat Quarter Shop which shows some of the basics in using this ruler.
Today’s tip is one I’ve been using for quite some time now, and it has been very helpful. I keep all of the instruction sheets for my rulers in a file folder so they are easy to access. There is no way I can remember all of the little helps and extra ways some of my rulers can be used, so it really helps to be able to pull out the instructions whenever I need them. You’ll find all the details about cutting diamonds with the Stripology ruler on the instruction sheet.
Finally…Fat Quarter Shop is now 13 years old and they are having a sale to celebrate. Get 13% off all orders with the code LUCKY13…and visit the Jolly Jabber to enter the amazing giveaways they are having!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back tomorrow to share my Little Ruby progress!

Just ordered one of these rulers about a month or so ago, after seeing Gudrun demo it at our guild meeting. Holy smokers its amazing. Saves a ton of time. The zero cutting line is genius. Great video demoing it Sherri, its so darned easy to use, and non slip on the back. I cut up a stack of fat quarters with it in no time flat.

I love your idea of saving the instructions from the rulers in a file: I've tried to hold onto mine, but this is a better idea than what I'd been doing! 🙂 And argh! I missed the FQS sale by a day: I was going to get that ruler!! Well, next time! Have a great weekend! Hugs, H

Thank you for this video, I will look here in South Africa for such a ruler. Will definitely of great help to me as I can for the life of me not cut straight lines even with a ruler!!!!I just wonder at the fact that you did not have a very tight grip on the ruler, you just press it down slightly on the one side — doesn't your ruler ever slips/slides on the fabric with such slight pressure?
