Hello and happy Saturday! Welcome to the Saturday Seven Inspiration for Quilters 58 post where I share fun things for quilters from around the web. I hope you’ve had a wonderful beginning to the New Year! On Thursday I was able to take most of the day to just sew, and I got a lot accomplished that I’ll be sharing over the next week or so. Of course it meant that I didn’t do anything else that day, but that’s okay sometimes I think!
Saturday Seven Inspiration for Quilters 58
1. Good Reads
I just started reading The Minimalist Home, and I love it already. I have to say I was a little skeptical about the idea of minimalism because I have so many quilting supplies and books. But things you regularly use and love are okay–and I’m learning so many ideas for cleaning up and organizing the other spaces in my home. I also loved this post from Magnolia on “Resetting Your Home After the Holidays.” It includes terrific “recipes” for a citrus simmer pot and two lovely linen spray recipes to make yourself. Read it here.
2. The Best Quilting Bucket List
I might have already posted about this, but if so, I’m going to post again. It’s just such a great list! There are 50 quilting related items on the American Patchwork & Quilting “Bucket List.” You can use the list in any way you like…read through it and decide on a few projects, several…or mark off the ones you’ve already accomplished and resolve to do the rest. I finally printed mine off yesterday and have so many good ideas. I’ll definitely be scheduling some posts around these too. Get your #APQBucketList printable here.
3. Mini Resolutions for 2019
I loved this article on “7 Mini-Resolutions That Will Make 2019 Your Most Productive Year Ever.” I’m in the process of planning for 2019 now and found this to be a simple and refreshing approach. Read it here. I also enjoyed the article “New Year: The Beautiful Minimalism of a Blank Slate.”
4. Good Eats
My daughters and I talk about this often: Meal prep is one of the very best ways to save time and stay within a budget. And since I’m always looking for more quilting time, I’m determined to do more meal-prepping this year. This post on “25+ Meal-Prep Ideas” has terrific ideas for every meal of the day (including snacks) and also has a really handy free printable. Find it here.
5. Fun Gift Items for Your Favorite Quilter
My friend Holly of Maker Valley has some really fun and unique gift items for quilters. I love her Sewing Heart Ornament, the Sewing Machine Enamel Pin (and all of the other enamel pins). She also has fun t-shirts and patterns. Visit her shop here.
6. A Yearly Sale You Won’t Want to Miss
Every January The Container Store puts their wonderful Elfa Organizing Closet Systems on sale. I wait for this sale each year and add a new item or two to my storage at that time. I have two new shelving units arriving next week that I can’t wait to put to good use (of course I’ll share them as soon as I’ve assembled and filled them). You can see how I use and label the units I have now (along with other ideas for organizing in the sewing room) on this post. And go here to shop the yearly 30% off Elfa Sale.
7. Quilting Resolutions and a Giveaway
The Fat Quarter posted some fun ideas for Quilting Resolutions yesterday and featured one of my WIP resolutions in their post. But the fun thing about their post is that they are also having a giveaway for a $50 Gift Card to their shop if you leave a comment on their post. Go here to get more ideas for quilting resolutions and to enter their giveaway.
Thanks so much for stopping by to read the Saturday Seven Inspiration for Quilters 58 post. And don’t forget…you can read all of my previous Saturday Seven posts here. Keep reading for a little of what’s coming up next week here on the blog.
Next Week on the Blog…
As I mentioned earlier, I did quite a bit of sewing that I’ll be sharing soon. One of the projects I worked on was my upcoming 2019 Free Block of the Month. This is going to be a fun quilt, and while the blocks will be simple, I’m planning some terrific setting options for both quilts. Look for all of the details on Monday! Have a wonderful weekend, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Thanks for your post and can’t wait to see what you planned for this year’s BOM. I’ve finished all the blocks from your last year’s BOM and I already have a setting plan. Now I just need to buy my sashing fabrics, finish the quilt top, quilt and bind it. Perhaps if I’m lucky I’m finished at the end of the month;-)
Have a wonderful weekend it’s snowing here like crazy!

I agree, meal planning and prep is key! I find if I shop on Friday after work and then prep and cook for a few hours on Sundays I save money, I save time and I don’t have many “uh oh, it’s 6pm what are we having for dinner” moments. I always enjoy your Saturday Seven posts.

I always enjoy your New Year’s post (actually, I enjoy all your posts). It gets me excited and inspired for what I can accomplish in quilting during the new year. Thanks, Sherri!

Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas. I so look forward to these Saturday posts. I wish I had read the article on mini resolutions years ago. It seems so much more manageable!! Blessings to you and Happy New Year!

Love your space ! Do you mind sharing the paint color and brand. It appears to be a light turquoise.
Thank you, Cynthia

What a great post. I saved the bucket list and passed the link to my mom. I entered the giveaway. I made great progress on my January goal today. With luck and determination, I should finish it this week! IF I do, I haven’t decided whether to move on to the next item on my UFO list or make some of your 2018 BOM blocks. So tempting!!

I love the taupe fabrics in your new collection. It’s a color you don’t see that much just now, but I know I’ll find uses for it.
