Saturday Seven 386: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I have had some down-time the last couple of weeks because of some eye surgeries. It felt so good to slow things down a bit! Here are some very doable 12 Teeny Tiny Steps to Simplify Your Life. And I also loved the ideas in “You Don’t Need More Time–You Need Less Distraction.”
2. Recipes to Try
These Fresh Lemon Ricotta Pancakes look amazing! And these Easy Key Lime Pie Bars are on my list for this weekend. And finally, a follow-up from last week! This Chicken Salad is officially my favorite. I could eat this everyday (I even rated the recipe which I’ve never done before–5 stars!)
3. Quilt + Sew
This Strippy Spools Quilt Along with Fat Quarter Shop looks like a terrific stash quilt project! And here is a post with 10 Quilt Piecing Tips & Tricks to Improve Piecing Accuracy.
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I finished Tiny Experiments (loved it–so many great ideas throughout the book including a great appendix and journaling ideas at the end). I’m currently reading and also loving the thoughts on clutter and cleaning up found in Declutter Your Heart and Your Home. I’ll share more on this soon, but there are some principles here that just make sense to me.
5. Jolly Bar Day!
Did you know that May 10th will be Jolly Bar Day? A Jolly Bar is an exclusive Fat Quarter Shop precut that contains (42) 10″ x 5″ rectangles from a fabric collection. Fat Quarter Shop has free patterns to use with these pre-cuts and also has five terrific spiral bound compilation books of patterns. Volume 5 just hit shelves and is full of fun and fast small quilt ideas.
6. Quilting Extravaganza in England – Summer 2026
I’m super excited to share that in 2026 I’ll be part of a 10-day Quilting Extravaganza in England with fellow Moda designer Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique. This is a trip that has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and I’m so looking forward to this. Find all of the details for our destinations, tours and activities below
7. Recently on the Blog
Below you’ll find links to posts from earlier this week on the blog. (Some of you might have noticed another post that was up for a while but isn’t available now. The Charm Pack Bag Tutorial was inadvertently published and will be available on Tuesday here on the blog and also on our YouTube channel).

Sherri, I saw a post, I think it was YouTube, but I was very tired and noding off. I am a night shift nurse and was laying in bed after my shift and I saw a video, that I can’t locate now. It was about bags or so I thought. I have searched the three bag videos I can find and I am not able to locate the bag I am looking for. It was a pattern, not yours, but it fits over a door knob and holds various things. Do you know what I am referencing by any chance?
