Hello, friends! Happy Saturday! Today I’m sharing the Saturday Seven 328: Lifestyle & More for Quilters. Each Saturday I share a fun round-up post of ideas I’ve found inspiring from around the internet. I group these ideas into categories like self-care, recipes to try, quilting and sewing, book and podcast recommendations, productivity and organized living, decor inspiration, and more. I hope you’ll find some wonderful ideas in today’s post to jump-start your weekend and the week ahead.
Saturday Seven 328: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
I loved this article on “How to Develop a Strong Sense of Self.” And this post on “12 Tiny Changes That Make a Big Impact on Your Well-Being” is full of helpful ideas and suggestions. Finally, I just ordered this Start Where You Are journal to use and can’t wait for it to arrive–journaling is probably one of my most favorite self-care activities (other than getting a professional facial now and again).
2. Recipes to Try
Spring is just around the corner, but it’s still cool enough in the evenings to make soup a perfect dinner for us. So, I’m excited to try this Weeknight Tomato Soup recipe from a food blogger whose recipes I love. And these little Cucumber Sandwiches look so refreshing…thinking I should host an Easter brunch this year! I’m currently browsing through these 75+ Easter Brunch Ideas for inspiration.
3. Quilt + Sew
First, I made a new runner, a quilt, and a wall hanging with our Laguna Sunrise fabrics this week: Tulip & Vine! And I loved them all so much I decided I needed to get the pattern ready as soon as possible. You can find PDF’s available in the shop now for download, and paper patterns will ship in about a week. (It’s on sale now for 20% off through next Wednesday).
Also, I’ve been getting so many questions about the Heart of the Home Sew Along sponsored by my friends at All People Quilt and EQ. The sew-along is actually taking place in the All People Quilt Facebook Group here. You can find tips and more each week posted in that group. I’ll also be sharing some more information in a couple of upcoming posts. Watch for them soon!
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I’m so enjoying the much-anticipated Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment without Burnout. I’ve already gained so much insight and many practical suggestions, and I’m only about half-way through! I’m currently listening to (and loving) Cultivating Mindful Relationships and Creative Growth with Leo Babuata Parts 1 and 2 (Greg McKeown Podcast Episode 273 and 274).
5. Happy Go Lucky 2 Video
We filmed a video about my Happy Go Lucky 2 quilt and pattern after I posted about it the other day. You can watch it above or on our YouTube channel. In my quilt videos I share an up-close look at the quilt and give extra information about the pattern and my fabric choices.
6. Family Favorites by Sherri & Chelsi Pre-Orders!
We are super excited to share that pre-orders are now available for our upcoming book with Fat Quarter Shop: Family Favorites. This book is full of our favorite quilt blocks in four different sizes with quilts and samplers to choose from for each size of block. We will also have a fun quilt along to go along with the book and more things in store for you with this as it gets closer to the release date this fall. To be sure you don’t miss out, you can now place your pre-order deposits for the book and two different kit options.
- Pre-Order the Family Favorites Book
- Pre-Order a kit for the Saltwater Sampler (above right)
- Pre-Order the Brightly Sampler Kit (above left)

Hi Sherri, Thank you for addressing the SAL. I kept looking for posts or videos on your you tube channel, since I had watched an introduction video there. I thank you in advance for posting more information in upcoming posts, since I’m not on social media, and I’m sure there are others as well.
I LOVE your new Tulips and Vines pattern. Have a good sewing weekend.

Do I need another quilt book? No. But I might have to by Family Favorites anyway!

I look forward to more info from you on the American Patchwork Heart of the Home sew along. I took a leap and decided to participate in this sew along, and was fortunate to get the very popular Strawberry Lemonade fabric. I was hoping to see some hands on quilting and still hope that it is to come.
