Hello, friends! Today I’m sharing my weekly roundup post: The Saturday Seven 324: Lifestyle & More for Quilters. In this post you’ll find all sorts of ideas for taking care of yourself, cooking, quilting, sewing, reading, learning, home organizing, productivity, and fun! I love putting together these weekly lists and hope they will help you enjoy your weekend along with the week ahead.
Saturday Seven 324: Lifestyle & More for Quilters
1. Self-Care
There were lots of helpful tips and ideas in this article: “Harder Than It Needs to Be?“. And these “7 Simple Steps to Embrace Slow Living” are just what I needed after the busiest November-January I remember. And finally, this “Jump in the Lake” post really resonated with me. (Sometimes we just need to do the thing)!
2. Recipes to Try
This new recipe for Chicken Gyros looks so good! We do a lot of stir fry here, and this Stir Fry Sauce is a good one (this recipe makes enough for two meals and stores in the refrigerator for a week). And finally–two dessert options today too: Magic Bar Brownies and Cherry Crumble–perfect for Valentine’s Day. Finally…not a recipe but some incredible oven-ware! I just got the sheet pan in this set for myself and love it so much! (Find the sheet pan separately here).
3. Quilt + Sew
I’m busy finishing up a couple of smaller projects with some lovely new fabrics and then plan to set to work on some works in progress. I’m also starting a couple of new projects soon including a new version of this quilt (sew-along begins at the end of the month). The Moonbeams Charity Quilt Along using our Strawberry Lemonade fabrics also begins next month. (Kits and backing sets are still available here).
4. Book & Podcast Recommendations
I’m really loving Stress Resets: How to Soothe Your Body and Mind in Minutes. This one is very easy to read and also shares so many useful tips and ideas. And I also loved this podcast episode on Rethinking Self-Help. Finally, this replay episode with Greg McKeown and David Allen on Getting the Right Things Done is excellent.
5. Home Inspiration + Fun
Spring is just around the corner, and I’m trying to decide when to switch up my decor. How long do you leave the winter quilts out? I’d love to know! These 20 Breakfast Nooks provide delightful inspiration for decorating now. And if, like me, you’re ready for some “almost spring” decorating, you’ll find lots of inspiration in this post. Finally, this free printable 2024 Big Game Commercial Bingo game looks like so much fun if you’re watching the Super Bowl tomorrow!
6. Organization + Productivity
I love these monthly lists of things to do to get organized. Even if I don’t get them all done for the month, I feel like I’m making progress. (I’m loving these new Swedish Dishcloths I got to cut down on paper towel use in the kitchen and bathroom, too). Finally, I recently heard that February is the new January for goal setting (not really, but I do believe it). It’s never too late to set intentions for the new year. I love hearing other people’s goals and intentions, so of course I enjoyed this post.

Is the Heart of the Home Pattern paper pieced or regular pieced?

We love the Bingo cards last year, so glad you left the link for this year! I look forward to seeing your new line.

I did not receive your Saturday Seven via email today. Just letting you know in case there is a problem on your end. (It’s probably my end though.)

I discovered the Swedish dishcloths about 2 years ago and absolutely love them! They are so absorbent and have a lot of cute patterns on them.

I just do not remember to comment 🥰
Thank you always for your inspiration and enthusiasm

I just wanted to tell you what a game changer the Simple Folded Corner ruler is. I had completely cut out Bountiful charity Quilt. When I saw all those folded corners, I put it away. After Jan’s block using it, I took the quilt out and have been working on it ever since. Looking forward to sew along from magazine. Thanks for all you do. Enjoy pod cast too.

I would like to receive your email. I don’t know for sure how much I could do that. I enjoy watching you on TV. Sheri and I love what I see in New York projects here.

I would like to make the “Heart of the Home” quilt. I have two fat quarters of Strawberry Lemonade. Will that be enough to make this quilt?
sherri McConnell says
No…You’ll need at least 13 fat quarters plus assorted backgrounds as shown in the magazine.
