Hello, and happy Saturday! Welcome to the Saturday Seven 192: Lifestyle + Inspiration for Quilters post where I share a variety of things I’ve been inspired by this week. I share good articles, recipes, sewing and quilting inspiration, and more. I hope you’ll enjoy today’s post and have a wonderful weekend.
Saturday Seven 192
1. Self-Care
I loved this article on how “Minimalism is for Everyone” (especially the part relating to crafters). These work-day de-stress techniques are great ideas whether you are working in an office or at home. And I enjoyed reading about the mantras one woman learned from taking an uncluttering course. Finally, my favorite article this week was this one: “A Life of Meaning, Without Buying.”
2. Cook
These potatoes look amazing…I’d never thought of cooking them this way at home. Also this post on how to make homemade Smash Burgers got me thinking about a cookout. And this Honey Mustard Pretzel Chicken & Avocado Bacon Salad looks amazing. For a simple one-dish meal, this Classic Poppy Seed Chicken is a good one. Finally, this has been my go-to pork chop recipe these days.
3. Quilt + Sew
This free pattern from my friend Anna is absolutely beautiful…also, find the fabric here. And if you love working with wool, Lisa Bongean has a super cute (and free) Crazy for Fall Pattern here. Lisa also just shared the American Quilter’s SAL Block 8 here. The Kaleidoscope quilt along began this week. I’m sewing along and will be sharing my first set of blocks next week. Get all of the details on the quilt along here. And pick up a copy of the Kaleidoscope Book by Lori Holt here. Finally–my friend and fellow Moda designer Jen Kingwell has a brand new quilting + recipe book. I received a review copy from Martingale the other day and absolutely love it. This book has incredible quilts (and photography) along with delightful dessert recipes that have been in Jen’s family for years. Plus, along with making several of the recipes I’m going to have to also make a couple of the delightful quilts. Find Quilt Recipes here.
4. Routines
Do you have any favorite routines? I’ve been trying to incorporate more of them into my life since being at home so much over the past year and a half. Here is a good-to-get-started list of “Meaningful Morning Routines.” I’ve been pretty good at my morning walks this month and hope to continue keeping up with them in August. My days always seem off to a better start when I can get a little walk in!
5. Pincushions + Thread Catchers
I’ve shared before some of the gorgeous pincushions and thread catchers made by the uber-talented Teri of Curry Bungalow. Teri sells beautifully handmade pincushions of the best quality and also has patterns available for her designs. And this week I received some new ones handmade by her with our Seashore Drive fabrics (pictured above). I’m keeping a couple for myself and have the others for gifts. (These are some of her new designs for which the patterns aren’t quite ready yet–but the patterns are coming soon). And I want to let you know that if you’ve been thinking about purchasing one of Teri’s current patterns, she is having a 25% off pattern sale right now with no code needed.
6. Liberty Box
I mentioned this last Saturday, but I hadn’t yet received my box when I posted. It arrived while I was on vacation and was a terrific treat to open when I got home. I love everything included: the pattern, fabrics, quilt labels, threads, and decorative tray. Find the Liberty Box here (over $30 in savings)!

I agree regarding Teri! I own two of her pincushion/thread catchers and gave one as a gift. She does fabulous work. I also love your new fabric line “Seashorw Drive.”

Oh those colors in Seashore Drive are just so pretty! I do have a question for a podcast or a tutorial. When making a tshirt quilt, how do you deal with different size logos? Do you try to make one size go in one column and another size in another? Then what d you back it with? Thank you!
