Hello and happy Monday! International Quilt Market is right around the corner, and when it gets down to the final few days before I leave I’m usually crazy busy finishing last minute projects. I think I’ll actually be finished with projects today, though, and will have a couple of days to pack and double check my lists before I go.
I’ve posted many times about how much I love Annie’s fabulous bag patterns,
and first noticed her MJ’s Messenger Bag pattern at market in St. Louis. I knew I wanted to make it using our next collection; it will look terrific in our booth and also double as an extra bag I can use to pack things for the trip.
I chose our navy large print with the text for the outside with the blue lattice fabric for the lining and the green print for the trim and contrast. What is even better is that I had my outer bag and lining fabric quilted with Soft & Stable and have a lot left over after cutting out my Messenger Bag. This means I’ll be able to make quite a few smaller gift bags from these scraps!
Annie’s patterns come with sheets that can be photocopied and cut apart to label all of the parts and pieces. This is really helpful when working with bigger projects. Clover Wonder clips are wonderful for keeping the labels attached and are also a basic necessity for bag making!
The pattern instructions are written so that you complete all of the smaller parts and sections of the project before putting it all together. I’m actually almost finished with my bag…it just got too late to take more photos!
I’ll be back tomorrow with the next post in the Scrappy Log Cabin quilt along and will share this finished bag on Wednesday!
Happy quilting, and thanks so much for stopping by!
