Good morning and happy Monday! We arrived home late last night from the Spring 2016 International Quilt Market in Salt Lake City, Utah. International Quilt Market is a trade show not open to the general public which is held twice yearly. Professionals from every area of the industry come to purchase and to scope out the latest and greatest trends, fabrics, and notions. I’m still a little tired from all of the work and excitement, but I’ve unpacked and am ready to get things organized here at home. I’ve taken a lot of photos to share with you this week…hope you enjoy them!
The theme for Moda this year was “Camp Moda.” Our area was decorated with
everything you might find while camping, and my favorite part of the decor were the mason jars with twinkling lights in them hanging from the Camp Moda signs. I wish I had a picture of them!
Each of the Moda designers had cute badges to give away to shop owners who were collecting them…the badges were also a great way for us to meet and interact with more attendees at market. I’ll post a little more on that later!
The booth format was a little different this year. Instead of having Moda designer rows, we had fun little nooks to decorate. The layout of our area encouraged people to walk in and out among the booths and mingle more.
While smaller than our booths at previous markets, the booths were much easier to set up and take down, so that was a plus.
The booth walls were actually made of a very thick and sturdy cardboard this time around, but the cardboard was very easy to pin into! You can see that all of the projects I’ve been sharing were here in our little area.
Since we were able to drive to market this time around, we were able to take along a few props including a table for our booth and Chelsi’s hand-lettered “A Quilting Life” chalkboard.
We were truly grateful for all of the wonderful feedback we received in the booth. People at Quilt Market (and quilters in general) are just the nicest people!
We also had a quilt ladder over to the side of our booth which didn’t show up in very many of my pictures. But we had one of the Bloom quilts hanging along the outside, Mahalo on the inside, and our cap sets of each of the individual fabrics available for people to look at at also hanging on the inside.
Since Moda will be making kits (in really cute boxes) of our Mahalo quilt, there was a gorgeous version of it hanging in the main Moda area. We could see it from our booth and really enjoyed having two Mahalo quilts at market (more on the kits later…they are very reasonably priced, and I’ll have them available for pre-order in my shop soon).
The Moda display area also had the fabulous Katy Perry quilt made by Moda’s Holly Hickman. Holly is one of those amazingly creative and talented people who can do anything. Not only does she design the Moda booth areas each year, she is also a terrific graphic designer and creative maker.
There was a “Moda Grunge Bar” area which featured the Basic Grey grunge fabrics. This fun Compass quilt was a favorite in that area!
My next post will include a little tour of the other Moda designer booths, and then later this week I’ll share some of other amazing booths and displays from quilt market.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Sheri, I love the fabrics! The colors are so amazing. I don't often want to make a quilt from someone else's pattern but that Mahalo quilt is screaming out to me. I might just cave and get a kit. Congratulations.
