First, I just have to share my first 4 Bees Knees quilt blocks…I know I’ve shared Nedra’s (top left) and Tricia’s (bottom right) before, but Amy’s (top right and bottom left) just arrived on Saturday, so I had to get them out and put them together…these blocks are all amazing, huh?! I can hardly believe how fun this is….and I’m so excited to get to sew a block for Amy in May!
It was a busy sewing weekend here…I spent most of Friday putting together a queen-sized quilt with some gorgeous fabrics for my amazingly creative friend Camille (it will be a while before I can share, but believe me, as soon as I can share pictures, I will). When I sew I have a lot of time to ponder and reflect, and for some reason, I pondered a lot about creativity this weekend. I truly love to create beautiful things with beautiful fabrics, and I just feel so thankful to have the blessing of quilting in my life. I’m grateful especially to my Mom and Grandmother for encouraging me in my love of fabric. My husband and children give me a lot of support too…I never get any complaints for the fabric that at any given time might be found in any room of the house!
As soon as I finished Camille’s project, I just had to make something little with the scraps. I knew I could make a little tumbler mat pretty quickly…and in just about an hour I had this little finish. What is it about finishes, even little ones, that bring so much joy?! Of course I had to ponder that, too!
This is my little “catch-all” container for the “strings” or small strips I have left over from projects. I’ve been saying for a while now that when it was full I’d make some string blocks…since it’s kind of over-flowing, it looks like this will definitely be a string-block week!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Those four blocks for your bee are so adorable! I love the patterns and the charming prints. Love your scrappy mini too. Such a great idea to make a mini with scraps from a bigger quilt.

Your blocks are wonderful. Can't wait to see the end result. I always think deep thoughts when I quilt. The brain just goes on and on, doesn't it? Any finish makes me feel good, no matter how small.

S – I just found you through Thelma's Cupcakes and Daisies and really like your blog. You also led me to Fort Worth Fabric Store (I think you owe me a lot of money!!!) and I believe they're the best on-line quilt shop I've seen (and shopped and bought and bought and bought from). Thanks so much for the recommendation! And I'll be following your blog from here on out.

I totally agree with you. I, too, am so happy to have quilting in my life. It really calms and relaxes me to just sit design, sew, and quilt. I am sure that your string quilt will look fabulous with all those leftovers.
