Hello! The other day I finally got a little time to work on something I’ve been wanting to make for the past year (or longer…it’s been on the list for awhile)! A lot of quilters have been making pineapple quilts in one form or another over the last year or so, and I could hardly wait to make one of my own. I always try to sew something that’s been on the list for awhile right after Christmas, so this year I decided I could at least make a pineapple mini in an afternoon!
I used some of my favorite yellows (and even got to add in three prints from our Desert Bloom collection). I used low-volume prints for the backgrounds and picked some favorite greens for the stem.
I used cross-hatch quilting spaced ¾″ apart which added just the right amount of texture I think!
I found some perfect yellow polka dots in my stash (from the April Showers collection) for the backing…and finished it off with some Happy Go Lucky scallops on green.I really love this little quilt! Sometimes you just need something to make that you can finish right away, and this was that project for me.
I’m doing a lot of organizing this week, so not too much sewing; this was just enough to help me not miss my machine too much! The only downside is that now I think I have to make a whole quilt with these blocks!
Block details: The block is made with 2 ½″ squares. I used the free pineapple block pattern from Instagram user @jackiepadeskyquilts which also includes cutting instructions and a layout for making a full quilt of pineapples. You can scroll through her Instagram account to see her tutorial for making several at at time, or you can email her for the free pattern (her email is available on her Instagram as well).
Happy quilting and sewing…thanks so much for stopping by!

I love this mini quilt! It looks easy to sew but is bright and cheerful too. It would look cute hanging in a front window to welcome guests. Thanks for the inspiration!

What a bright and happy start to your after Christmas sewing. Pineapple is my son's favorite fruit. Love your mini! I've gotten a head start on my January scrap busting and am making 'a few' Log Cabin blocks with my 1.5 strips. These pineapple blocks would look nice in between!

Such a fun little mini! I've made a mini pinapple block in summer and used it as front for a gift bag for my brother. It's really a cute block!

Darn, this is too, too cute. I may have to make one — sooner rather than later. Thanks for the info on where to find a pattern.
