Over the first part of the weekend I had a chance to finish up a couple of little projects…first up was to make a scrappy binding for the patchwork baby quilt I shared recently.
I just love scrappy bindings! They do take a little extra time, but they are so fun…and often it’s a great way to use up scraps, too!
I actually ended up with a little bit of binding left over which means I need to start another project out of these gorgeous fabrics!
I was able to keep all of my seam allowances away from the corners on this quilt, too–no easy task with so many seam allowances to juggle. I think I just got lucky in the end!
I just love the mix of colors. The quilt is for a granddaughter due to arrive in October. My daughter (the Mom-to-be) loves browns and wanted a mix of girly colors with some earth tones..this collection, Prairie by Little Miss Shabby for Moda (due in stores in October), ended up being perfect.
Okay…last photo…
I finished up one other project this weekend–I can’t share it just yet, but I have to show a sneak peek…the fabrics are Poka Dots & Paisleys by Minick & Simpson for Moda (shipping fairly soon, I believe).
Hope you are able to sew this weekend too! Thanks so much for stopping by

I don't worry about binding seams ending up in the corners, maybe because I didn't know it was considered a "problem" or a bad thing when I started doing bindings.
If the corner is too bulky I trim the triangle of batting that's in the corner.

Love the baby quilt and the scrappy binding just adds the finishing perfect touch. That baby is going to love it – as will the mom. Great choice!

Very cute quilt! I don't know how you find the time to make all of these wonderful items. I know it's your job but you still have a family and you must have to do the dishes once in a while. You are a quilting machine!

Ditto to the above comment!! 🙂 The baby quilt is so sweet: Prairie by Cory Yoder? And I know what you mean about the seams and quilt corners.. Shall we say that I learned the hard way to make sure and pin the binding all the way around before sewing it to make sure the seams weren't on a corner! 🙂 And do you have two daughters, or is the quilt for Chelsi's baby? That Minick and Simpson line looks wonderful: can't wait to see that quilt! Have a great week: Hugs, H

I have so many scraps at the moment that Imneed to do something with them. I am such a hoarder I can't throw any of my small scraps away. They will come in handy one day won't they? Your baby quilt is lovely is it for a special little one you know?

That is wonderful. The scrappy border is great on it.

Your grandbaby quilt is adorable. I love the bright colors. Did you know that bright colors stimulate a baby's mind? The thought is that it will improve their intelligence!
I hope you share the quilting that you did on your "Sneak Peek". I LOVE IT!!! I also happen to have a quilt that needs a basic design but I just didn't think I knew what it was. Guess what? I think your SP is it!!! Please share!
