Hello and happy Monday! Just before the weekend I was able to finally get my sewing room thoroughly cleaned up from all of the crazy quilt market sewing! That means, of course, that I get to start new projects!
First on my list is to finish a few things I had ready to go…you might remember
that at the beginning of this month I shared some quilted bag projects I had ready to sew (see that post here). In that post I also shared a few tips for organizing small projects like this and for using quilted left overs from bigger projects to make smaller things.
These bags are the smallest size of the Open Wide pattern (4″ high x 7 ½″ wide x 3″ deep). I actually love all three sizes for these bags in the pattern. I love the large and medium sizes for travel–they make great “containers” to organize things in my suitcase. And this small size is perfect for keeping things organized inside of a larger purse, or for keeping in the glove compartment of a car.
I love the contrast bands on these bags. The fabric for the bands is interfaced with Shape Flex fusible which gives it a really nice, finished look.
The pattern has a really neat finishing technique for adding the zipper. Every time I make this pattern I think how clever the design is! I might have to keep one of these, but the other two are for gift giving!
They really do open wide enough to easily get things in and out and to easily see what is inside!
Now that these are off of my work table I can start something else!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
