The Marcelle Medallion quilt from the book Liberty Love: 25 Projects to Quilt & Sew Featuring Liberty of London Fabrics
is one of those quilts that you just can’t stop working on. I wish I had a whole day to do nothing but work on this quilt, but my progress has come in bits and pieces over the last week or so. Actually, I’ve loved working on the quilt in bits and pieces–it has given me time to ponder fabric choices and to savor the fun! The cutting seems to take longer than the sewing with this quilt, so I usually cut out a border and then sew it the next day.
I absolutely love the triangle border (and I didn’t even think I was much of a triangle person)! But then I did the flying geese border, and I love that, too. The next border uses even smaller pieces, so I’ll be able to use some of my favorite fabrics that I didn’t have enough of to use in the earlier sections.
If you’re on Instagram you can see some pretty amazing versions of this pattern. Just enter the hashtag #marcellemedallion or #medallionalong. I especially love Rita’s (which of course is finished and headed off to be quilted–she is so amazing).
And…yesterday a wonderful box was delivered by FedEx…25 copies of my book! I do have a few copies that I’ll be adding to my Etsy shop (you can find them here). If anyone would happen to want a personalized signed copy (it feels really weird writing that, I have to say) just leave a comment when you purchase, and I’ll be happy to sign. (Sorry, I won’t be able to ship internationally, the shipping is so crazy high for that).
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful (rest of the) weekend!

I have the Liberty Love book, it's a good one. I like your Medallian quilt. I want to make the Spool quilt. Guess what, I just went to your shop and ordered your book and I asked for you to sign it, that would be great. Fun stuff.

So excited about the book! I just had a question though. Amazon has the Kindle version. Are there templates in the book for some of the patterns? I don't think that would be able to print them from the Kindle app. I'm thinking that it would be a good excuse to buy the paper version. I am not always fond of electronics (I think I am getting old!)

Thanks for the link over to that post about low-volume. I actually wrote to the guy at the New York Times asking him the origin of the phrase he used, but he never wrote back (and I'm a subscriber!).
I'm really excited about your book. I wonder if you have signed book plates you've dreamed up for those of us who bought the book from Amazon (I should have waited but just couldn't!). If not, I'll just have to meet you at a LQS next time I drive through Vegas.

Just received your book and saying I love it is an understatement! I have either quilted with or have in my stash almost every stitch of fabric you used in the book! So excited to get started…I think Dresden plate first! Thanks for sharing your heirloom quilts and their story. I also started my blog for journaling purposes. 🙂
