I’ve finished up a few little things over the last week or so, and I thought it would be fun to share them together. Sometimes sewing little things is just what I need…small simple things are perfect for sewing when life is busy and schedules are tight. I love making the Sweetwater composition book covers. I’ve made many and given them all away, so I finally made one for myself. The one on the left is made with Pam’s amazingly adorable fabric, Pam Kitty Love, and the one on the right is made with Kate Spain’s gorgeous Honey Honey collection.
I also finished up my February Bee blocks for Shari…she sent the most adorable fabrics along! I hope she likes them!
I recently made a quilt with 2wenty Thr3e…so I decided to cut up the smaller scraps into 2 ½” squares. I couldn’t stop there, so I now have them ready to make composition book covers!
I also made a couple of new potholders for my kitchen…those Moda candy squares are just so tempting to sew up!
And…I started a new project. This. wasn’t. on. the. list. But again…you know how it goes. I ordered the book: Liberty Love: 25 Projects to Quilt & Sew Featuring Liberty of London Fabrics, and when it arrived I was absolutely smitten. I highly recommend it. There are a variety of projects from quilts to pincushions to clothing (there is even an adorable sewing kit on my must make list).
Anyway, the Marcelle Medallion quilt just called out to me. This is the center medallion with just the first border added. There are 10 borders all together, I believe.
The center piecing wasn’t super difficult, but does require careful cutting and sewing (tissue paper templates are included with the book). The next border will also use templates, but the other borders seem to be pretty straight-forward and don’t require any templates. The quilt will finish at a nice wall-hanging size, and I’m making it completely from scraps. I’m hoping to add at least two borders a week now that I have the first two sections completed.
Thanks again for stopping by! I hope you get to spend a little (or a lot) of time sewing today!
