Hello! I’ve been working on a little something here and there in my spare time…trying to make the absolute most of my Ann’s Arbor Layer Cake!
I decided I really wanted a quilt out of this fabric, and since yardage won’t be
available until later this summer I decided I’d better try to make as big of a quilt as possible with my Layer Cake.
This has been a really fun collection to work with, and while I’ll use another Minick & Simpson fabric for sashing and an outer border, I decided to utilize just these fabrics for my blocks.
After I decided on a plan I divided the fabrics into lights and darks and then set about making pairs with good contrast. I moved things around again and again until I finally decided I was happy with the mix of prints and colors.
Flying geese were a part of this plan, so I made all of them before continuing on.
After the flying geese were finished up I started assembly-line sewing the star blocks.
I’ve been doing the math so I can get everything cut out for the rest of the quilt…can’t wait to share this one!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Great fabric! I can't wait to see this one completed. FYI, I have made 4 Aubri bags and my Aunt has ordered another 4 for Christmas presents! We all love this bag!! Thanks for the pattern.
I love this so much! What a fun quilt this will be.
Already looks great I just love star blocks!

I love what you are doing with Ann's Arbor! I have been wanting to make a quilt with one of Minnik and Simpson's lines (especially since I live in Mi.), I look forward to your finished pattern and quilt!!! You are such an artist!

Now I am wanting again, but I am really going to stay determined to sew lots of my existing supplies of fabric before I buy more! I can be strong. I can be strong. I can be strong..
You are inspiring me to pull out a well-aged Prairie Paisley layer cake and make some star blocks, but I have too many other things to finish up before starting another new project. Maybe by the time you share your finished quilt top, I will be ready!

These stars look wonderful with the Ann Arbor fabric. Love the pop of yellow in this fabric line! Looking forward to your further choices in the quilt sashes and border!
Good idea to use layer cakes and I love stars. I hope you'll give us the measurements for the stars
I love the stars, and the fabric is wonderful. You have such a good eye for color, Sherri. I'd love to make this very quilt if you'll share.
