Hello! I’ve been working on a little something here and there in my spare time…trying to make the absolute most of my Ann’s Arbor Layer Cake!
I decided I really wanted a quilt out of this fabric, and since yardage won’t be
available until later this summer I decided I’d better try to make as big of a quilt as possible with my Layer Cake.
This has been a really fun collection to work with, and while I’ll use another Minick & Simpson fabric for sashing and an outer border, I decided to utilize just these fabrics for my blocks.
After I decided on a plan I divided the fabrics into lights and darks and then set about making pairs with good contrast. I moved things around again and again until I finally decided I was happy with the mix of prints and colors.
Flying geese were a part of this plan, so I made all of them before continuing on.
After the flying geese were finished up I started assembly-line sewing the star blocks.
I’ve been doing the math so I can get everything cut out for the rest of the quilt…can’t wait to share this one!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Great fabric! I can't wait to see this one completed. FYI, I have made 4 Aubri bags and my Aunt has ordered another 4 for Christmas presents! We all love this bag!! Thanks for the pattern.

Now I am wanting again, but I am really going to stay determined to sew lots of my existing supplies of fabric before I buy more! I can be strong. I can be strong. I can be strong..

You are inspiring me to pull out a well-aged Prairie Paisley layer cake and make some star blocks, but I have too many other things to finish up before starting another new project. Maybe by the time you share your finished quilt top, I will be ready!
