Last week was kind of an interesting week…I had a lot of free time, but since my main sewing machine was in the shop I concentrated on some projects that had been on “the list” for awhile. First I made some Composition Book cover and sunglass case sets (these had already been cut out and have just been sitting). I think they will be great to have on hand for gifts.
Once you start making those book covers…you can’t stop. Since I had never made one for me, I ordered the label from Sweetwater that coordinates with their new Lucy’s Crab Shack fabric to make myself one.
And…last week I finally got the courage to repaint my laundry room. Here are a couple of “before” pictures. My old laundry room was kind of blah, boring…things just put in there to decorate that “kind of” went together. For a couple of years I’ve been wanting to paint it aqua…so with the husband at work and my son at football camp…I finally decided to take the plunge!
Notice the very wavy border on the America quilt above…this was one of my first quilts ever…most of the points are chopped off, and the border is so wavy since I really didn’t know what I was doing. But I love this quilt. I smile everytime I see it because it reminds me that once upon a time I had the courage to start a new hobby and keep at it!
And here are the “now” photos. I haven’t really decided what is going on the walls yet, but I’ve started with a few things. I have to say, I love the aqua…it seems like my laundry room was always supposed to be this color…isn’t that funny…color is amazing! My laundry room is at the end of a hallway, and I have been smiling for a week every time I look in!
My family thinks I’m a little silly…but I think I could live in an almost entirely aqua house. I won’t really paint everything aqua…but my sewing room will definitely be this color before the end of the summer!
I want this room to be simple, but I wanted to bring in a few things I love, too.
The large aqua jar is a recent purchase from Home Goods, but the bud vase was my great-Grandmother’s (she must have loved aqua, too!)…and the little bluebird was a gift from my grandmother several years ago.
Last, but not least…here is this week’s giveaway for my 4-year Blogiversary celebration…it’s a Layer Cake of Moda’s Collection for a Cause, Friendship. Just leave a comment on this post, and I’ll pick a winner this weekend.
PS…My machine is back and sewing wonderfully…nothing was wrong…but what a difference a good cleaning and oiling makes!
Thanks so much for stopping by…have a wonderful week!
