Really…it was just a matter of time. My heart has been set on making a scrap quilt using the “Granny Squares” tutorial from Blue Elephant Stitches since the first time I saw the block. But I thought I’d hold out for awhile since I have so many works in progress. It seems like every day someone else has shared photos of their blocks–and seeing so many wonderful versions all over blog-land has been so inspiring!
Then, in the last 7 days I finished up 9 of my works in progress…yes, 9! So that was it…with all of those finishes I thought I deserved to start something new, and here is my first block! All of the fabrics are from Denyse Schmidt–some from her original Flea Market Fancy line, mixed with a few pieces from her recent Jo-Ann collections. I’m going to work with what I have for now…but I’m not ruling out buying a bundle of the new Flea Market Fancy for this quilt!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just came across your blog from a link at an old Quilt Hollow post I was reading. Love it! Nevada, huh? I'm not far away–at least Utah doesn't seem so far away when most of the blogs I read seem to be from the east somewhere. : )
Nine finishes? Wow! I have been wanting to make a Granny Squares quilt since I saw one at our county fair last fall, and another blog friend just got hers to flimsy stage. I downloaded a pattern from APQ last year. Now where did I put that?
Theresa says
I love the Granny Squares too but am holding off until I finish something else. Yours is gorgeous, I love the colours. Congratulations on your 9 finishes.

So satisfying to have those nine finishes. You certainly deserve to start a new project, and the one you've chosen is going to be fabulous. A lot of people in blog land are doing this block, which makes me want to try it. Unfortunately, I don't have nine finishes, so will have to work on my UFOs first. But I'll be watching to see how your blocks are progressing. I love the soft colours you've chosen.

Nine finishes! I'd better get busy. Right now I'm sitting here at the computer tonight in my pajamas, reading blogs and enjoying the quilt show–including this lovely block of yours. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever tackle all my projects (answer is no), but somehow starting a new one gives me energy to go to town on some of the old ones. Funny how that works.
