Hello and Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing my version of a fun Jolly Bar pattern from Fat Quarter Shop…Jolly Bar Jazz! The original quilt was designed with our Creekside fabrics and is absolutely beautiful!
I decided to make a Christmas version with this pattern…the big bold blocks
and star design just seemed perfect for the new Christmas collection Merrily by Gingiber for Moda Fabrics.
And let me tell you…this is a quick sew…I had my dates wrong for the post date for this quilt and ended up making it all on Wednesday…yes, cut it out and sewed the top all in one day (started after lunch and was done by dinner)!
The unique trimming method for these blocks does waste a little fabric but gives you precise blocks (and I’m sure there is a way to use those trimmings). I love, love, love how this turned out. I’m using the grey leaves with red berries for the backing and the stars on red for my binding. I’ll be sure to share a picture when it arrives back from the quilter!
When my Merrily Jolly Bars arrived (the quilt uses two of these pre-cuts), I decided I didn’t want to use the browns in my quilt in order to achieve the look I was going for. So I made nine blocks instead of twelve for my quilt and used just the light prints along with the red, green, and grey fabrics.
Watch the YouTube video above to go along with the free Jolly Bar Jazz pattern from Fat Quarter Shop here. And you can find the Creekside Jolly Bar Jazz kit pictured in the video and below!
You can find the Creekside Jolly Bars used for the sample version of this quilt sold separately, too. I think The Good Life would also make a stunning quilt…or shop all of the Jolly Bars in stock!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Looks so cute! And sometimes it's better to go quick and simple rather than piecing the blocks in a slower way!

I really like how easy this block is. I have some left over green 10 inch squares. Now I know what I'm going to do with them! Thanks for the inspiration.
