Hello and happy Friday! Today I thought I’d share a little bit about a fun photo-of-the-day event taking place on Instagram right now. Amy Ellis of Amy’s Creative Side has done a fabulous job organizing the event and coming up with fun and creative topics. Each day there is a different prompt, and quilters from all over the world share photos based on the subject of the day. It’s been a lot of fun to see all of the different photos and to be inspired by all of the creativity!
It’s been so much fun that I decided to document my weekly photos here on
the blog. On the first day the challenge was to introduce yourself with a photo and some personal facts. I won’t do that again here…but you can visit my “About” page for my background information.
We also shared a photo of our sewing space or area…and I shared the above photo for that day!
Your sewing machine was another prompt. I shared what I currently sew on, a Janome Memory Craft 6600 Professional. It was fun to hear from all of the other quilters who sew on this same machine! And it was interesting to me to see how many quilters have many, many sewing machines!
Another post topic was “fast finish.” When I need a fast finish, I usually opt to make a pillow. You can find the free tutorial for the pillow I shared here.
On the fifth day we were asked to share our favorite notions. I mentioned my Clover seam ripper, Clover Wonder Clips, Olfa Splash rotary cutter, ½″ ruler, Fit to be Quarter ruler, Kai scissors, and Clover thread cutter (in the alphabet block holder). These are the notions I use regularly. After posting I started thinking that I should have included my iron in the picture because I can’t quilt without it!
Day six was a scrappy quilt…and I shared my Marcelle Medallion quilt (pattern by Alexia Abegg of Cotton & Steele) which was made entirely from my scraps. It was beautifully quilted by Natalia Bonner and hangs on the wall in the hallway across from my sewing room.
Then we shared what was on our cutting table…you saw my progress on this yesterday!
And yesterday’s post topic was “stacks.” I could have posted a picture of a stack of quilts…or stacks of quilts in an armoire…but I opted for this group of Desert Bloom, Creekside, and The Front Porch fabrics! Soon we’ll be adding some more beautiful fabrics to this stack!
I’m looking forward to the next week of photo prompts…it’s fun to think about all of the different possibilities for each topic.
Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start…and thanks so much for stopping by!

I have enjoyed the parade of photos from all the designers too. I especially love the ones that don't have the neat as a pin work room. I am not alone out there among the great designers as I can never keep mine that neat or I would never get projects done. I really am curious on your cutting table. Is this something you pieced together to a customized version to fit you or is it a one piece cutting table? I like that you have a built in measuring device on top and it can hold multiple cutting mats. You have a beautiful studio.

I really like your work table – cutting space. So I am repeating Linda’s question. Can you tell where you purchased or where the various component parts were obtained?
