Hello! Last Thursday I had the opportunity to travel to the Portland, Oregon area to teach for two days at the loveliest of quilt shops, Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe, located in the Charbonneau area of Wilsonville. I actually traveled there about a year ago to teach and was lucky to get to reconnect with some of the same women who attended my workshops then.
Our Creekside fabric collection arrived at the shop the evening before I arrived,
so Jan, Christine, and Brian were up late cutting kits and setting up the display. Everything looked beautiful. It’s always so fun to see our fabrics in shops!
We had two nice-sized classes: on Friday I taught my “Happy Days” wall hanging with nine lovely ladies in attendance. I also brought an entire suitcase full of quilts for a mini trunk show each day. “Focal Point” and “Lattice” are hanging on the wall behind us. Brian came over to the classroom at the end of each day to take a few pictures for which I’m really grateful…such good times!
On Saturday we had a big class…every seat in the classroom was taken…and we worked on my “Patchwork Garden” quilt using the stripology ruler to save lots of time with cutting. It was another wonderful day. Catered lunches were enjoyed by all each day, and I was able to get some goodies from the bakery next door on my final day!
Before it was time to head out we took one final photo…Nancy, Jan (owner of Hollyhill Quilt Shoppe), and Christine are all absolutely wonderful! The shop is in a new location from when I visited last year; however, the atmosphere and beautiful arrangement of fabrics, patterns and notions is the same–lovely and inspirational. If you live in or visit the Portland area, you should definitely stop by the shop (or visit their online shop). You are sure to be inspired!
Of course I had to do a little shopping as well…you can’t spend two days in a quilt shop without picking up a few things…I’ll share those later this week!
I’m so grateful for the opportunity to travel and teach and meet such lovely people…I’m inspired just being around so many amazing quilters…thank you so much Hollyhill!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm interested in hearing about your Stripology experience. Maybe a post sometime? I'm considering an investment in one (they are a little pricey)and those postage stamp blocks y'all did look perfect!

Sherri, I thoroughly enjoyed both classes and projects at Holly Hill Quilt Shoppe. I enjoyed meeting you. You are a delightful teacher. I feel fortunate to live so close to such an amazing quilt shop. And…I already used my Stripology ruler to cut binding for a quilt I am finishing up. Thank you.
