Hello, friends! I know today is a busy day, but I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving 2023. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays of the year, perhaps because it is the one holiday that truly focuses on gratitude and giving thanks.
Happy Thanksgiving 2023
Childhood Traditions
I have wonderful childhood memories of Thanksgiving. I still remember pie making the night before with my mom and waking up to more delightful aromas coming from the kitchen on Thanksgiving morning. The day before was spent cleaning the house when we were hosting (which I somehow loved). And I delighted in being able to go to my grandmother’s home for most Thanksgivings during all of my pre-teen and teen years (she always had a little bit of Christmas decor out in anticipation of the next big holiday).
No, our holidays weren’t perfect by any means (my grandmother used to call everyone ahead of time and beg them not to discuss religion or politics). But in the end our Thanksgiving holiday celebrations were always filled with love.
More Memories
I also have wonderful memories of the Thanksgiving holiday as a young mother. It was so nice to be able to visit with family on those holidays. (And to get help with my young children). As our children grew older, we started being able to host some of the meals. (it was then that I really found out how much work was involved). We’ve been able to fine-tune our celebrations over the past decade or so such that preparing the meal and serving doesn’t stress me out. I actually love the planning, the preparation, and the event itself. In more recent years, there have been a few Thanksgivings where we traveled out of state to visit our youngest and had our Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant. Can I tell you that I love that too!
Wherever you are and however you are celebrating (or not celebrating), please know that I am grateful for your readership of my blog and support of my art. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
And thanks so much for stopping by to read my Happy Thanksgiving 2023 post! Have a wonderful day!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. So grateful for you and your talent of quilting. My Mom didn’t quilt she sewed. I loved nothing more than to stand behind the sewing machine and watch her sew. I was so fascinated that she could take a piece of fabric and make something out of it. My grandmother quilted wish I had learned from her. Very grateful for you and your talent and for sharing your talent and tips.

Happy Thanksgiving Sherri, reading this blog made me remember my Thanksgivings as a child. Most were spent at my grandmother’s house and the gatherings were large (she had 8 siblings). She has passed and so have my parents and Thanksgivings are now hosted at my home. The group is much smaller and my children live far away from me. However we do a video messenger chat with them and have a grand time joking around with each other. I’m so thankful for my family and this wonderful craft of quilting which lead me to you and all you offer through your blogs, videos and books.
