Since I’ve started doing a little Fall decorating around the house (Monday is the first day of Autumn) I thought it would be fun to share my favorite fall quilts for today’s favorites post. My absolute favorite fall quilt is one I did about ten years ago using scraps. It was one of my first attempts at machine applique using fusible material along with a buttonhole stitch.
I had it custom quilted by my friend Andrea who just brought the quilt to life. I always hang it in my front entryway from September until Thanksgiving!
I also have several smaller fall quilts that I love to decorate with. The “Happy Harvest” mini and the turkey pillow are Debbie Mumm projects from when I was a new quilter. The fall leaves topper was a gift from my grandmother many years ago…I love getting it out each year.
I also have quite a few pumpkin pillows embellished with buttons and decorative stitches. These are also from back when I first started quilting!
My own fall leaves wall hanging is a favorite. My grandmother had one just like this, and I could hardly wait to make my own. I think she gifted me some of the fabrics from her stash to make this. I also think these might have been the first half-square triangles I made…
I always wonder about when to get out the Halloween fall stuff…is September too early for this? My favorite Halloween quilt also has been beautifully brought to life by Andrea and uses lots of scrappy Halloween prints from my stash. This is another quilt I made about ten years ago.
I love the stripe for the socks, and I love the scrappy checkerboard!
I love the stars, the potion bottle, the bats, and the cat, too!
And finally…here is my favorite Halloween table runner (pattern by Heather Mulder Peterson). Back when I first started blogging I made about twenty of these runners one fall…many were gifted to family and friends, but I did keep a few for me! And the fabric basket (pattern by Pink Penguin) is perfect for storing Halloween treats!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I seem to remember those Debbie Mumm things from when I first started quilting too! They still look great bringing out for the holidays. Thanks for sharing!

I LOVE your Halloween quilt!!! The leaves are beautiful too. I'm still trying to figure out where summer went.

We absolutely love your design. How long did you take to make it. Did you use a quilting machine like the Qnique Quilter or blockrockit?

Such fun and pretty quilts and projects!! And so different from your style now! 🙂 Not your typical colors! I love them, and no it's not too early to put them up. It's half way through Sept. and that only leaves 2 1/2 months to enjoy them. How has the weather been? Did you get anymore heavy rains? I was watching the weather news and it looked like the Las Vegas area might have had some storms come through from the big Pacific hurricane down by Mexico. Hope you all were fine. Hugs, H
How fun! Enjoyed your tour of Autumn items you have made. And the items connected with your grandmother bring such special memories I can Imagine.
Debbe Mumm lived in my town in WA state years ago. I began quilting with a video and book of hers. 🙂
Have a nice weekend.

buen fin de semana
I am enjoying you Friday Favorites. I agree that it is time to pull out the Halloween and other Autumn decorations, and you've inspired me to do just that over the weekend.
Thanks for sharing your fall decorations! Your fabric basket is the first in that pattern I've seen in a Halloween colorway. I think I'll have to make one in those colors too.
Loving your Fall quilted pieces!! I honestly cannot pick a favorite. Please continue with the Friday favorites…soo much fun!
I love all of your fall & Halloween quilts. I keep my fall & Halloween stuff in totes together. I'm like you, don't want to put the Halloween stuff out too early, so I put out my fall stuff then a few weeks later put out my Halloween stuff. That's just me! Thanks for sharing!
