I’m heading out today for International Quilt Market in Houston, Texas. So of course today’s “Favorites” post will begin with my new bag. This is a favorite pattern of mine, the “Two Zip Hipster Bag” by Dog Under My Desk. I made a “Cotton & Steel” version this summer for my Washington, D.C. vacation, and I loved the size and style of the bag, so it was my pattern of choice for market. I used my favorite navy and aqua prints from the upcoming Fig Tree collection for Moda, Aloha Girl.
I actually used one of my favorite prints for the back of the bag…
and I just love the contrast with the aqua, coral, green, and navy!
Another favorite thing is my new magnetic pin bowl from my friend Jodi of Pleasant Home. She is sold out now, but watch her blog for her next sale. I love this bowl because it stays put on my ironing board and keeps those pins where they are supposed to be!
My final “favorites” pick is this book I read last weekend, Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. This was just what I needed. Not only does it help you see the importance of figuring out what is essential, but it also offers practical solutions to the problems that keep us procrastinating and prevent us from accomplishing those important essential things. I have read a lot of time management and organizational books over the years, and this one is my very favorite!
Well, I’d better get packing! Leave a comment on this post letting me know what you’d like to see pictures of from market, and I’ll do my best to take them! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a great time!!! I'd love to see what the other's have said, plus Lori Holt's booth. Also, would you ask the Riley Blake ladies if they would make a solid fabric the color of Fig Tree's usual cream/beige? I like the tightness of the weave of riley blake's solids better than Moda's (sorry Moda, but I do love all of your prints ALOT!) Have a safe trip!! Hugs, H

When I was younger my mom and I made a quilt. It was something that was really fun to do with her. It took us a while to make it. The finishing product was beautiful. I am really grateful to have that experience with my mom. http://www.provoquilting.com/
