Hello and Happy Friday! I really can’t believe it is the end of August already…just a few more days and it will be September. I had this crazy thought the other day that maybe if I made a fall quilt it might feel a little cooler around here (we’ll see about that cooler part, but at least I’ll have a fun fall quilt)!
So I gathered my favorite fall-feeling Fig Tree fabrics in red, green, orange, butterscotch, plum, and brown and set to playing!
I’ve been having a lot of fun playing with these fabrics. I’m using one of my favorite fall blocks in a fun setting (pattern will be available soon) and have really had a lot of fun with the low-volume backgrounds (I used a mix of Fig Tree fabrics, Bella Ivory 9900-60, Minick & Simpson backgrounds, and Moda Muslin Mates). I just need to trim these half-square triangles this morning, and I’ll be ready to start putting blocks together. I can’t wait!
Since it’s Friday Favorites day, I also thought it would be fun to share some fun things that arrived this week from Fat Quarter Shop.
First, they sent three of their new tins…these adorable tins are 8 ½″ x 2 ½″ x 1″ tall and are perfect for storing thread, pins, paper piecing supplies and really anything you can think of!
They also sent along a copy of The Jolly Bar Book which contains 20 fast and fun patterns for use with Jolly Bars (5″ x 10″ rectangles). This is a perfect book if you have a lot of left over Layer Cake squares: simply cut them in half and pick a pattern!
Thank you, Sigi, for sending these photos and allowing me to share on the blog…I love seeing quilts and projects with our fabric!

Beautiful fall fabrics. I have a quilt to make but get stuck doing other things. You have better time management skills than I that's for sure!! I had planned to buy just one tin but after checking the set, the One inch vs. the 3/4 in., I will buy all three, and that book is in my cart too! Have a great weekend and thank you for the info.
