It’s official; summer is quickly closing in and coming to an end. My semester begins in just two weeks, so I’m feeling the pressure to accomplish a lot in the near future. Although I wasn’t planning on starting a new “not on the list” project, I fell victim to another Instagram quilt along and decided to make Camille’s “On a Whim” quilt using some Anna Maria Horner fabrics I’ve collected over the past few years. I was just going to make one block…and now I’m ¼ of the way to finishing this 20 block quilt. I’m using the grey dot from Happy Go Lucky for my secondary background color, and I really like the effect it has on the overall quilt.
I’ve been trying to tackle my “Works in Progress” pile, too. It seems I have a lot of unfinished projects that are small (I guess do better at finishing larger quilts for some reason).
So, first on my to do list was a pillow sham I started a very long time ago. I had extra blocks left over from my “Stems” quilt (pattern by Fig Tree & Company), added some borders and had it quilted. The other night I made a zipper back and got the binding sewn on. I really love it, and now I have this crazy idea that I need to make more quilted pillow shams!
I also set together my Blogger’s Block of the Month hosted by Jackie…from quite a while ago. I just need to decide on an outer border now…
It’s so much more fun to have a quilt top than to have a bunch of blocks in a box! I’m hoping to work on quite a few more works in progress this week.
Thanks so much for stopping by…Happy Monday!

It's so much fun to see all the quilts you get done!!! Do you have a pattern source for the pillow sham? I would like to make a few also! And zippers intimidate me but would like to use them!

I am trying to get a bunch of unfinished projects finished, but I agree with you, that I like working on quilts rather than smaller projects. I just signed up for another block of the month, and I think that I am crazy. Love all of your quilts.

Ooh, don't tempt me into the On A Whim festivities! I've been wanting to make one for a while.
Good luck on a border for your BOM quilt. I hem and haw for ages before I finally get to work on borders.

I got On A Whim last fall and it hasn't made it to my list yet! And I love it so much. Your version is beautiful. I like what you did with your left over stems also. The next two weeks will go by fast… I'm sure it will be nice to have a few of these things out of the way.

oh – and I do the same thing – Bigger projects always get finished before the little ones do.

Very nice quilted pillow sham Sherri. Do you have a pattern for the zippered closure? I think I would like that.
Beautiful quilts 🙂
