Hello and happy Monday! I had a super fun week last week…but it sure was good getting home and being able to spend time with my family this weekend. I left last Tuesday to fly to Texas where I was able to record some fun videos in the Fat Quarter Shop studios (more on this later). After a four-plus hour flight delay in Phoenix coming home, I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I was to land in Las Vegas very late Friday night!
(The wonderfully soft and warm blanket above is a favorite gift this year from
Moda. I’m absolutely in love with it)!
Since I was gone for four days last week, I’m kind of on a last-minute rush to finish all of the Christmas projects I want to get ready for Christmas. As soon as I got home I cut into this Juniper Berry Layer Cake to make some table runners. I actually got them pieced this weekend and will share pictures as soon as they’re quilted and bound!
Then I have some other projects I’m hoping to start (and finish) this week!
Now…just a little bit more about my trip to Texas! Kimberly Jolly of the Fat Quarter Shop and I are pictured below in front of the Bella Skill Builder quilt. This is a quilt I designed and have been working on for quite a little while now. I finished the quilt two weeks ago and express-mailed it to Texas so it could be quilted in time for my arrival.
You can see a full digital image of the quilt here. One of the most fun things about this project is that it will be a block of the month beginning in 2017. Fat Quarter Shop will release the patterns over a 10-month period beginning in February, and they will also release a video each month where Kimberly and I show you how to make that months block(s). Additionally, there are some wonderful rulers used in the quilt construction, and I’ll be demonstrating how to use each of the rulers. Another bonus is that the patterns will be free to download. I’ll have a lot more information on this in the upcoming weeks!
I’m excited to get sewing this week (and to get my gifts wrapped and shopping completed)!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Wow – you have been busy! The block builder quilt looks awesome. Oh – I had to look twice at your photo – you look a lot different with darker hair 🙂 (Not in a bad way, of course!) Merry Christmas!

The quilt looks like a lot of fun! Is there anywhere that sells the blanket you got from Moda? Merry Christmas!

I look forward to seeing the Skill Building BOM — great idea! I love Juniper Berry and have none in my stash — how is that possible?? My brother and I traveled from Ohio to Wyoming yesterday and ended up arriving more than 4 hours behind schedule (got to Mom's at 4:45 am Ohio time — talk about bleary-eyed), and the worst part of all the delays is that we spent most of them sitting on the plane not going anywhere. We were on one plane more than 3 hours and the flight time was only one hour. That's holiday travel for you! Should be an easier trip back home next week on a weekday. Merry Christmas!
