On Wednesday of last week I traveled to Bryce Canyon Utah to attend and teach at the yearly retreat at Ruby’s Inn. I had a wonderful time and was busy teaching 3 classes and enjoying the lectures and trunk shows. The scenery on the way up and back is always stunning–there is just nothing like the contrast between the red rocks, the evergreen trees, and the white snow!
One of the classes I taught was the “One Piece Bag” by Fig Tree & Company. So of course I had to make a new one for myself to use as a sample. I made my version 2″ narrower than the pattern and absolutely love the size of the bag. I was also able to teach the Scrappy Trip around the World and another Fig Tree pattern, “Saltwater Taffy.”
I got my mini “Dwell” quilt bound the first night while watching one of the trunk shows…so happy to have this little mini all finished!
And, I was able to stop at a quilt shop in St. George on the way home and pick up the perfect binding for my American Patchwork Quilt Along “Tone it Down” quilt. I chose the blue polka dot from Sandy Klop’s Potluck collection. As soon as I’m finished binding I’ll share one last post on this quilt.
The plan for Monday is to finally unpack from both retreats…there are even a couple more suitcases that didn’t make it into this photo that need to be unpacked.
I’ll be back tomorrow with the Simply Small parade and new project!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Oh…and I totally missed the boat on this one…I was supposed to post last week about the amazing #small town quilt show event this summer. There are lots of wonderful teachers and classes to choose from, and you can sign up now!

Welcome home! I saw that photo of all the bags and suitcases and felt your exhaustion from all the fun. I'm glad you had such a great time–but I'm sure it's good to get back to the routine and the sewing studio.
Your projects and quilts are looking terrific!

Sherry, do you know if they've set the dates for next year's quilt event at Ruby's? I've had my eye on it for a long time and may just pull it off next year. Thanks!
