The book is Crafted Applique – New Possibilities
by Lara Buccella, and it offers
a new idea for the iron on treatment for your fabric pieces! The book explains everything you need to know for this new technique…no more fusible webs or glue sticks! It’s a great way to have no-fray raw edge applique!

This seems to be the year of the baby quilt for me. So far I have made and gifted six baby quilts, and have two more to do by the end of the summer–a tree themed quilt and a purple butterfly themed quilt. I have chosen a pattern for the butterfly quilt but not the tree one yet. I have a quick whale or elephant quilt to do quickly..may cheat and do applique whale on prequilted fabric for that one, throw on a prairie point border and call it good.
I also have several largish UFOs I would like to finish–I have an oversized queen that needs six borders put on (two of them pieced) and I have two more blocks plus borders for a qal from last year that will be a largish lap.
I also am attempting to keep up with the Splendid Sampler.

I always make so many plans then feel a bit let down when the time lapses so think this summer there will be one big project that I have been wanting to do…a "Log Cabin" quilt and then enjoy some smaller projects and yes….I love applique and might do a bit this summer.

I'm fascinated by the magical method of applique that Lara has developed; can't wait to know the secret. This year I'm concentrating on my UFOs. I made of list of 13 UFOs (I hate to admit I have even more!) and have completed 3 and begun work on the 4th. The 3 projects slated for this summer are: Christmas stocking for our newest grandbaby, and 2 beach towels for another 2 grands on which I do some embroidery work. That way, I'll have those items done BEFORE Christmas! LOL

#1 goal quilting wise is to finish quilting a top I finished two weeks ago. I want to try something new on it though, so am finishing up another quilt so I can practice on it before quilting the other one. Exercise wise I'd like to get my hip feeling better so I can add some distance to my running. Quilting is keeping me sane through this process. This appliqué method is intriguing to me.
