Hello and happy Tuesday! Today I’m sharing some Bee Blocks I caught up on over the weekend–with my fall being so hectic I fell behind and was determined to finish up the final quarter blocks by the end of the year.
In 2016 I participated in two different Bee groups; in 2017 I’m going to stick
with just one. While both groups were a lot of fun, I think one is going to be more manageable with my schedule.
The letter “B,” “b,” “E,” and “e” above were paper pieced for Anne. She wanted the capital “B” with a favorite fabric and a low-volume background. With the rest of the letters she requested low-volume letters and background…with a bit of a contrast. The background strips on the right side are so that she’ll be able to trim her blocks for her quilt.
Below are some improv type trees I pieced for Nancy. Now I’m not super comfortable with improv because I constantly seek for everything to be straight with the majority of my piecing. So these stretched me a little…that’s why I love being in a bee, though; I love trying new techniques that I might not ordinarily work on. Nancy’s quilt will be made up of half of each type of block: light blue backgrounds and green backgrounds. It’s going to be fun to see!
Finally, I made Elizabeth’s blocks. Elizabeth had a fun twist on her block. She requested that everyone make the block they had requested when it was their month…but that they make it with Anna Maria Horner fabrics. Luckily I have a little collection of AMH fabrics, so it was fun to get them out and make these blocks!
It felt so good to get caught up…now I’m ready to make my January blocks on time!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

The blocks are beautiful. I feel the same way about improve so the trees were a challenge for me too.
