Hello and happy Friday friends. I have been really busy getting ready to share new fabric, quilts, and patterns soon (beginning a week from today). Last evening I finished up the binding on the fourth of six quilts I’m making with the new collection. So now it’s time for photography to get ready for the big reveals! And today I’m sharing the Quilting Life Block of the Month August 2020 blocks. If you are new here, this is a free block of the month pattern I share each month in 3 sizes: 6″, 12″, and 18″ finished. You’ll find all of the links you need below.
Quilting Life Block of the Month August 2020
I’ve finished my 6″ and 12″ block versions and still need to make my 18″ block. With all of the extra sewing going on lately, it’s been hard to stay caught up. But I’ll get caught up in August!

August Block Tips & Tricks
- I used the Mini Simple Folded Corners ruler to make the center units.
- Half-square triangles were made according to the pattern.
- And I did use this Bloc Loc ruler for my 12″ block.

Thank you for these BOM patterns! I haven’t pieced any of the blocks but I am downloading them. I don’t like all the blocks in the BH3 series and I’m thinking your blocks will fit in perfect with them. Happy stitching!

I am so addicted to anything Sherri McConnell! Love your BOM’s and can hardly wait for the next block and video. I too intend to use your blocks in place of some of the blockhead blocks. Oh and by the way you and Chelsi do a great job with the podcasts- always kinda sad when it ends- could listen all day- lol

I want to thank you for making it so easy to download the previous month’s blocks. My main computer recently experienced a fatal failure and my hard drive could not be recovered. My new computer is due today. And yes there will be at least weekly backups from now on to at least two places. Many of my quilting files are not retrievable. I enjoy your quilting style, patterns, and books. So again thank you.

Your pictures of blocks and quilts are great! Do you take them? How do you decide how to arrange all of them? Maybe this might be.a good question to discuss on the podcast? Thanks
sherri McConnell says
Thanks so much for this idea!
Priscilla C says

Lora says
For this quilt along would harpers garden fat eighth be enough fabric with background?
sherri McConnell says
yes! But not for the 18″ block size!
Jan Weicksel says
Thanks for sharing! Love reading, looking and dreaming of what project could be next!

Hi Sherry,
I was wondering if there is a method to making your blocks in various sizes??
I really want to make different block sizes, but not sure where to begin. I guess I’m looking for a formula..
Thanks
Sincerely

Hi Sherri – I’ve been trying to download the August BOM and just keeps spinning. Is it me or are other people having this issue?
