Happy Friday! I just had to share the new mini quilt I made this week. It’s a Mini Round & Round by my friend Camille. I actually quilted this little quilt 3 times–I did two separate free-motion quilting designs that I just wasn’t happy with…unpicked all of the quilting both times, and finally settled on my good old stand-by of wavy lines. Oh, well…it was a long few hours spent with the seam ripper, but at least I’m happy with the results! I used bits and pieces of several Bonnie and Camille collections and used Moda Bella Aqua 34 for the background.
I’d like highlight a few things going on with one of my sponsors, Bear Creek Quilting Company. They’ve recently added some wonderful new Moda pre-cuts including Color Me Happy (shown above), Mirabelle, Plum Sweet, April Showers, Catalina Batiks, and Jelly Bean Batiks.
They are also running a “Pick Your Favorite Fabric” Sale through Monday with many collections on sale. Other new items in the shop include Papillon by Benartex, English Diary by Andover, and North American II by Robert Kaufman.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back tomorrow with more of this week’s quilting.

Thank you for sharing that you unpicked this quilt. I have only been quilting about 3 years now, after sewing for almost 50 years, and taught myself almost entirely from reading blogs. I have unpicked several projects, but none of the bloggers I read have talked about unpicking before. Thank you so much for letting me know that experienced quilters sometimes unpick too!

Adorable, I love all of Camille's fabric lines, I finally cut into my stack of vintage modern and am making a tumbler quilt, it's going to be so pretty. Have a good weekend.

I do like your Round and Round and the way that it turned out. I am an inexperienced machine quilter, and have several half quilted quilts that I don't like for one reason or another (the quilting, that is). Have thought about picking out the quilting, but still feel very undecided about the quilting. One is just a crazy pieced scrap quilt, and I'd been just quilting more or less in the ditch with a non-contrasting thread. Think that even if I stick with that approach, I'll use a heavier contrasting thread (threads) and the fancy embroidery stitches that come on my machine. In fact, I think I could do that right over what I've already done and the earlier stitching wouldn't be visible. And wouldn't have to worry about all of the starts and stops with the crazy piecing since I found self-threading needles that make burying thread tails a snap! The other one I want to change out the bat.
Thanks — you got me started on thinking through possibilities. Just like having a conversation with a quilting buddy. Due to health problems, can be pretty isolated. BTW, also like the Bear Creek Quilting Cabin.

I'm making a round and round large quilt….in moda grunge (light green) background and PB and J for the stars…they look like they are swirling and floating…I love it. Yours is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

I love V & Co's Color Me Happy fabric line. What are you going to make with it??

Such a cute mini! I love that you used aqua for the background. I need to move out of my comfort zone a bit more and use more than just white for backgrounds all the time!
