Happy Wednesday! Because my husband was away on a fishing trip and I didn’t have anything on the calendar, I was able to spend half of Monday and all day Tuesday just quilting (I did do a tiny bit of housework and cook some yummy zucchini bread, too). First on my list was a work in progress that I really want to finish…my Moda Building Blocks quilt in red and white.
I was about half way through with section D when I left off 18 weeks ago (I can’t believe it had been that long, so it’s definitely time to get this one finished). It seems like the longer a project sits, the harder it is to pull it out and work on it. So it feels great to be working on this again!
I started off making the remaining two blocks (both are 18″ x 18″ finished) in section D, and then I made all six of the small blocks in section E. I’m ready to sew D and E together now, and then I’m hoping to make the seven small blocks in section F today.
Then there will just be one section left, and that section consists of a really large block and some more small ones. I think I can finish this before the end of June!
You can see my last post on the progress of this quilt here.
I did start something new as well, although technically I’m calling this a work in progress, too. The two blocks on the left side of the photo above were left over from when I made the County Fair quilt sample for Joanna of Fig Tree. Even after making myself a mini version of the quilt I knew I needed to make the full size version again…for me. And since I have scraps from three different quilts I made using those fabrics, I decided I’d better cut out the quilt before I used something I might need. I had to substitute a couple of other Fig Tree fabrics from the ones used in the original quilt, but I’m ready to go on this one…as soon as I finish the Moda Building Blocks quilt, of course!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Don't know which picture I love more … your red-and-white blocks (the one with the heart arrows might be my favorite) or your Country Fair blocks.

Will there be a pattern for the red and white quilt and the size of all the blocks? Red is my favorite color and I have been wanting to make a red and white quilt.

Your red and white quilt is going to be gorgeous! You've picked the reds that I like: a clear red, not muddy or too heavy. 🙂 I love the arrow fabric in the star block that is on the bottom right of the first picture. Do you know what line that came from? Have fun sewing!! It's nice that you have some time to get back to your unfinished quilts. Hugs, H

Beautiful red & white blocks! I think you've inspired me to get going on something like that, and I actually like the idea of taking my time with it. It's always nice to have one in-progress project to go to as needed.
