Blocks, Fabrics and Notions!

Hello and happy Friday! Thank you so much for all of the positive feedback on the new patterns and fabrics!  I really am excited to keep sewing with Clover Hollow and have some more fun ideas ready to go!  So I'm just a little late in posting my Fat Quarter Shop Clementine Quilt Along blocks :)

These blocks are made with free pattern downloads from Fat Quarter Shop.

Each month you make two blocks...a 20" x 20" finished block and a 12" x 12" finished block.  I'm caught up and now have the first six blocks finished.

I really like this month's design--flying geese and half-square triangles make up these fun blocks. I actually cut my half-square triangle pieces a little larger than the pattern called for so I could trim them to just the right size.  You could also do the same thing with the flying geese, but I did follow the pattern instructions for those this time.

I love the large block...oh, and since I'm using scraps and a fat eighth bundle for my quilt you will notice that I don't make my large and small blocks using the same fabrics.  I've generally used a fat eighth for each color in my large blocks and used scraps for my small blocks.

The small blocks are always so cute!  I just love them! I'm using Flower Mill fabrics by Corey Yoder for Moda along with scraps from some of Corey's other collections.  I love how the fabrics are mixing and matching so far!

So now I'm caught up...I'm hoping to make next month's blocks a little early so I don't miss my deadline to post again!  You can find the free downloads for this month's pattern along with the downloads for the January and February blocks here at the Jolly Jabber landing page for this quilt along.  This is just a six-month quilt along, but you'll be making a really nice sized quilt since you make the large block each month in addition to the smaller block.  There are also video tutorials available on the landing page that walk you through each step of each block.

My March Sew Sampler box also arrived recently...and it sure is another good one!  I was so excited to get the 4" Curvy Log Cabin Trim Tool by Creative Grids! You know I love log cabins...and I'm super excited to use this small version of the larger ruler I have! I love the Rose Gold Tape Measure...the case is such a pretty color!  I've already added this to my travel sewing bag! The TrueGrips Adhesive Rings are going to be a great help, too.  These are transparent stick-on rings that you can place on the back of any rulers to prevent them from sliding while you're cutting.  There are 15 large grips and 15 small ones included in the package. A quilt pattern, the monthly basket block pattern card, and the finishing instructions for the basket quilt round out the smaller items in the box.

Additionally (and I was so excited to see this in the box) there is a bundle with four different half-yards of V & Co.'s Sparkler Ombre Confetti Metallic fabric!  I've been wanting to try this fabric out, and now I can!  And with half-yard pieces you are able to get the full ombre spectrum included with each color!  These fun fabrics will add a touch of fun to some projects I have coming up! If you're not a box subscriber...the price at the link above for this fabric is really terrific.  It's on sale now, but I'm not sure how long the sale will last.

This was another fabulous box from Fat Quarter Shop!  I can' wait to see what is in the April box...I heard it's something really fun!

Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start...thanks so much for stopping by!

I too loved my Sew Sampler Box. In the pattern, a combination of 3 blocks and a background looks like a little Pac-Man! I love the star in the middle. A whole quilt of those stars with a dark background would look twinkly bright. I am not a fan of yellow, but I really like the yellow prints in Clover Hollow. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for your comment that a half yard purchase of the ombre fabric will give the whole experience of it--I've been eyeing it online and might have made a mistake in buying a too-small cut and not getting what I anticipated due to my own lack of understanding of the design. That is a huge help!
