Moda, Craftsy, and a Giveaway

Happy Wednesday! I thought I'd start off today's post by sharing the three Moda bundles I couldn't live without from Sample Spree. Clockwise from left are Simply Style by V & Co., Potluck by Sandy Klop, and Sunnyside by Kate Spain! My Moda booth post is almost finished, and I'll share it tomorrow.

One of the booths I visited while at market was the Craftsy booth. I've enjoyed writing for Craftsy for the past few months and have also been taking some Craftsy classes. The lectures from QuiltCon are also free on the Craftsy site. To watch the QuiltCon lectures for free you'll just need to register for an account (You can do that here).

I'm also currently taking Camille Roskelley's Pre-Cut Piecing Made Simple and have also signed up for Sara Fielke's Scrap Quilting: Big Techniques from Small Scraps.

What I like about the Craftsy classes is that they are available to you whenever and forever. You can watch just a segment or sit down and watch the whole class. Then if you want to review something or watch it again, you can. It's so easy, and it's like having a personal instructor "on call!"

The classes also come with pattern downloads. I'm really looking forward to playing with these two classes this summer.

And now for my first post-market giveaway! One of my favorite designers in the quilting world is Heather Mulder Peterson. I always love her fresh ideas and inspirations for fabrics. At this market she debuted her newest book, Angles with Ease and a ruler to go along with it! When I purchased my copy and ruler at Sample Spree she gave me an extra set to give away to one of my readers! I didn't get any pictures of Heather's booth...but you can see the quilts in this book on Heather's blog here and here.

To enter the giveaway, simply let me know what your quilting goals are for this summer! I'll keep the giveaway open through Friday evening!

Thanks so much for stopping by...and I'll be back tomorrow with the Moda booths!

My quilting goal this summer is to make two Farmers Wife blocks each week as well as start blogging about quilting more. My blog is seriously neglected. I'd rather be sewing or quilting than on the computer, I guess!!!

I'm hoping to quilt some of my tops this summer. I have also taken Camille's Craftsy class, and hope to make some of those projects. I am stepping out of my box with primitive colors and want to make some brighter modern quilts. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

My quilting goals are to start and finish two memorial quilts: one for my miscarriage and the other for my husband's grandfather. His grandma sent 10 of his shirts to use in the quilt and whatever is leftover will be made into mini quilts for his aunts. It's a lot to handle at the moment but I'm hoping that I can just dive in and make it through.

Jeanie said...

I would like to finish some projects that have been hanging around for way too long...mostly some quilt tops. I got caught up in several blog hops and let my regular quilting get away from me. Thanks so much for the great giveaway!

I know it sounds a little 'generic' but my goal is to just sew, quilt, learn. I'm just jumping in to all this and have made a few baby bundles (bibs, burp cloths, etc) and now I want to move on to bigger projects.

I recently painted and actually organized my quilting room. So in the process I found 5 UFO's and a ton of scraps. I plan to make something with the scraps that I'm currently cutting into 2.5 inch strips and finish those UFO's. From there, another quilt for our bed is in order.

Sinta Renee said...

Love those bundles! I am a new fan of V & Co. I just love her style. I have been having fun on Craftsy recently and would have loved to have seen their booth. I plan on signing up for Camille's class this summer on Craftsy and
I am taking a class next month from Sandy K. and also plan to do "handwork" aka applique this summer as a focus. Don't laugh! I'm really going to!

I want to make a two color quilt, maybe blue and white, which would be a drastic change from my normal two color quilt choice of red and white. I know I'll squeeze in Coastal Lilies by Minick and Simpson and hopefully Sweet Caroline by Fig Tree. That would be a good sumer of quilting I think!

Thanks for the opportunity!

I have numerous quilting goals this summer. First of all I am trying to keep up with customer quilts, second is to prepare for demonstrations and classes we are giving throughout the summer, and third is to finish a project or two of my own. I love using new templates, they are like the funnest toys a quilter can ever have. Heather has done a beautiful job on the quilts. I would love to have a new ruler to play with.

My quilting goals for the summer are to finish 2 lap size quilts for which I have all the fabrics and patterns. One is a Churn Dash quilt with solids and the other is a vintage stars quilt made with a pattern I bought almost 10 yrs. ago. I love the pattern and always thought I would like to make the quilt, so now's the time!

I am retiring from working part-time at a most wonderful quilt store after 20 years. (I know, I am frequently second guessing myself.) I will have the entire summer off (my other job is at an elementary school). I plan to spend every morning in my sewing room. I am not sure what will actually be accomplished because I am not sure is there. First order of business will be to organize. I hope to complete a trip around the world block every day; from there there are only the possibilities.
