Have you ever thought of mixing Comma by Zen Chic with Happy Go Lucky by Bonnie & Camille? What do you think about the combination of Boho by Urban Chiks with Avalon by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree & Company?
The fabrics above are from three different Urban Chiks collections: 1974, Urban Cowgirl, and Boho--and I love them together. I'm over at the Moda Cutting Table blog today talking about some mix and match fabric combinations.

Wow! The first comment on this post. Well I have to say I loved Comma and Happy Go Lucky but ticklish and Snap Pop were really calling my name today.
I really like the Brights from Ticklish by Me & My Sister and brights from Snap Pop by Sandy Gervais. I am trying to get more brights in my collection of fabrics, although I also liked all of the navys, I have a soft spot for blues!
Kate Spain is my all time favorite, and by chance I mixed some Good Fortune with Terrain, and I just love them together.
I love the Vintage Modern, Ruby and Marmalade mix. Happy go Lucky mixes in well with it too.

Wonderful happy fabric lines. The combos are endless. Each combo was a favorite when viewed, must ruby with marmalade was tops.
I love mixing basic grey with sweetwater and/or zen chic.

I like bits of Juggling Summer with bits of Simple Marks together!
My eyes and heart belong to the brights like the Brights from Ticklish by Me & My Sister and brights from Snap Pop by Sandy Gervais. I love this combo.

I love to mix the Bonnie & Camille fabrics! They play so nice together.
I'm currently mixing Bonnie & Camille's Ruby, Vintage Modern and Bliss together in a full sized quilt for my daughter. I really appreciate the fact that they all coordinate as I'm a little color wheel challenged. I love seeing all the combos you put together!
I really liked the navy grouping; really eye-catching!
I made a quilt for grandaughter, Ruby, using a Ruby layer cake. I ended up buying some Vintage Modern for finish work. With the leftovers, I made a smaller quilt for little sister. Then I decided to wait for Marmalade and make middle sister a quilt. I ended up binding and backing the three quilts with a mix of those fabric lines.
I love how beautifully the Fig Tree fabric lines go together. That has to be my favourite combo!
I love combining the Bonnie & Camille lines, which I'm currently combining with some Sweetwater Reunion and Hometown.
I am a fan of the pinks. The Honey Honey and Posy fabrics belnd really well and the pops of color feel really fresh - a fun spring mix :o)
I love this combination you showed. Simply Color by Vanessa Christenson of V & Co. and Cuzco by Kate Spain. I would have never thought to put those two together and they looked great! All of the combinations have definite possibilities, but I especially liked the BoHo and Avalon combinations.

I often mix Fig Tree fabrics together. Recently I combined Butterscotch & Roses with Allspice Tapestry.
I'm quite new to quilting, so I haven't had the experience of mixing various collections together, but just today I finished a quilt-top were I made Dresden Plates out of Marmalade and Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille. I'm looking forward to mixing collections in the future!

I'm also a big fan of combining Vintage Modern with Ruby, Marmalade and Bliss. I mixed them and can't always remember which is from which line! I do love your combos!
I've mixed the French General fabrics and many of Bonnie and Camiles lines. This is the best way to de-stash and still make wonderful quilts

I think I love the happy go lucky and Avalon in the navy, but I love the Boho and Avalon in the reds just as much. I have trouble picking out colors and material, but when I see them together, I know what I like.

I love mixing Bonnie and Camille's fabric lines, in particular, Bliss, Ruby and Vintage Modern. It's so nice to have all those options to choose from! I loved the navy combo in your post, as well.
I don't mix and match across fabric designers very much. I will do it "internally" with the designer's lines though. Thanks for mentioning '1974'. I have a charm pack, jelly roll and 1 yard of something from that line but not enough to do anything with it. I think I will look into their Boho and other line and see what I can come up with.
What a great post. It helps to see different lines together. I love Fig Tree fabrics because each line tends to pair well with the last. The same is true for Bonnie and Camille fabric lines. It is a bit harder sometimes to pair different lines, but I love that you used charm squares to illustrate. They are a great way to make color and fabric decisions and then buy your yardage accordingly.

I've been wistfully eyeing Audra's Iris Garden for awhile now. It seems like Field Notes might be a good mix 'n match with that. I also love Comma, and thought maybe Noteworthy might play well there? I only have my computer monitor to go by, so I can't be sure about any of this, but it's fun to look and dream.
I, too, am in a green-loving phase, so I really like the Boho and Avalon combination.
I would love to mix up a little 'Glamping' and some 'Simply Color' by V & Co. for a really fun fresh quilt.

I really like mixing fabrics from various fabric lines and different designers. Right now I'm making a Vintage Holiday quilt (ThimbleBlossoms) using various reds and greens from Fig Tree and a lovely green print from Cherry Christmas (Aneela Hoey). I'm also working on a queen size quilt using Simply Color (V & Co) and Swing Toss (in light green) by Heather Bailey. I know the Swing Toss isn't a Moda fabric, but it looks fabulous with the Simply Color. Love your blog!
Sherri, I loved your post and every combination you shared with us. I have always loved to mix up different collections for quilts rather than using just one fabric line in it. There are so very many collections that "play extremely well" together that are not even from the same designers. I think it adds personality to a project and besides, it's just plain fun. It also helps you to prevent repeat fabrics if you working on a project where that is important to you. Yup, I've been a memeber of the "mix it up" club for a long time. LOL. Big Hugs...

I have been dreaming on those Ticklish and Pop lines for a while, but the navy combination really appeals to me together. Maybe because it is a little different than what I usually look for? Good to think of combining. I really loved that Ruby line, but didn't get in on it early enough. Maybe I will find a little stash somewhere in a happy little shop? ;-)

I used to shop in the stores, brick and mortar), exclusively, but currently have some limitations that prohibit that and have found myself relying more and more on ordering online. I really don't have a favorite, but I love how so many of the collections can be used together. I have added Vintage Modern to a lot of projects.

I loved the Posy with the Honey Honey. I love it when you can mix the colors because then the resulting top is not so predictable and it gives you so much more variety.

I am so thrilled that I'm finally going to be able to get Navy's in the Happy Go Lucky and Avalon lines!! Navy is my "basic black" (I don't like black the way most people do), and having it paired with the oranges and reds that are in both lines just about have me giddy!! Thanks for the fun post! :-)

Of course it is always difficult when making CHOICES, as I (oh, many of us I am sure) love SO MANY Moda fabrics. I particularly love the combo of Avalon with Happy Go Lucky. I'm thinking some of these would also go well with the Strawberry Fields stash I have. I'd love to add some blues before making my quilt!

I really like Snap Pop and Ticklish together, but the navy Avalon and Happy Go Lucky are also eye catching.
I have often mixed up lines within a a designer as they have a habit of using similar colours or shading, but my biggest struggle has been to mix lines of fabric from one designer to another designer. I love the orange prints of Kate Spain's Serenade with her Good fortune. I also love all of Sandy Gervais' Fall lines together! I have mixed her her teal/turquoises from several lines together!
I'd have to say snappop and ticklish! But that's a hard one, because I love so many of Moda's fabric lines!
I love to mix collections. I think it adds some sparkle to projects that is missing when all of a line is used. I also like to have a random surprise on the back of the quilt.

I really like the misc combo with the seven charm packs by the different designers. They are some of my favorite designers/collections!
I have mixed and matched several of the Fig Tree lines on numerous occasions. I used to keep all the collections separate from one another but now that I interchange them at will, they are all stored neatly in one box, just waiting to be used in another project.
I love mixing fig tree lines. You get the same feel with different prints. I like the idea of mixing Simply Color with Happy Go Lucky. I'm thinking some of them might work!

I made a quilt where I combined Breakfast at Tiffanys & Buttercup. I love to mix different collections because it lets you do away with the fear of stepping outside of a particular collection and put a personal twist on a project. Just because fabrics came in a set doesn't mean another group you have wouldn't work well together. Some fabric collections were were destined to be together.

I rarely use all one fabric line in a quilt. It really adds more interest and depth to a quilt to mix different lines. I made a baby quilt with Bliss by Camille and Bonnie and added several other prints that coordinated. It turned out really cute.
I'm very keen for Avalon and happy go lucky to be released and compare their new navy fabrics! I think they will be gorgeous together. It's so nice to see these designers adding navy to their range. I think it goes beautifully with their style.
