Happy, happy December! I always love December 1st...it's kind of been my "marked on the calendar" day for decorating for several years, and I hope to be able to get some accomplished today! Since it's December 1st, it is, of course, Schnibbles day, and we have two wonderful parades. But first, I'd like to introduce you to "Morsel," the Little Bites pattern by Carrie that is our December project. "Morsel" is a delightful pincushion pattern.
Although I chose to make mine rectangular (this seems to be the perfect shape to place next to my sewing machine), there are several other pin cushion shape choices in the pattern. I made 5 pincushiontops with just one Moda Candy pack of Avalon by Fig Tree & Company. I'm keeping the finished one for myself and using the other 4 for gifts (I ran out of stuffing and need to get to the store to finish the rest).
You don't need very much fabric for this project; however, you do need to add some little bits of trim. I used narrow Moda twill tape for one, rick rack for two others, and measuring tape twill trim for the final two. Little bits of ribbon or lace would be beautiful embellishments as well!
I love the fact that I was able to make such an interesting variety of pincushions from one line of fabric just by separating the pieces into color families.
Carrie's pattern is wonderful with terrific tips and ideas. Also, she recently did some great informational "pin-cushion" posts. Here are the links to those posts: go here and here!
And now...it's on with the parade of wonderful "Drop" quilts!!!
Mary made this beautiful Christmas version!
Susan actually made two smaller versions.
Meredith made this fun Drop quilt.
Michele made a gorgeous Fig Tree Drop...she has several pictures on her blog post; however, I just loved this close up the best!
Patti E made a cute pillow with her Drop quilt!
Patty made a beautiful table topper!
I absolutely heart this fun fall version made by Polly.
And Sandy F also made a great version!
Sandie L's quilt top is cute as can be...love the blue outer border!
Wendy isn't sure yet what to do with hers. You can check out her blog to see some of the ideas she is "auditioning."
Sue made a beautiful French General version.
Mary S made this fun small quilt!
And Marti made this cheerful Drop quilt. Be sure to stop by Sinta's for the other half of the parade...and Happy December!

Oh so beautiful! This parade is full of gorgeous quilts! Congrats to everyone for a wonderful show!
I really enjoy seeing the same quilt in different fabrics and how they are all so beautiful. Makes me worry a bit less about my own color choices! Can't wait to see loads of pin cushion cuties next month.
Oh my goodness. I love your rectangle pincushions and the little pin with a bird is just precious! :o)
Such a gorgeous parade. I love seeing all the schnibbles!!
Today our tree is up, pretty little white lights are on and finishing more Christmas sewing. :o) Glorious!
Have a lovely weekend. Trish
Sooooo much gorgeousness.
Such beautiful quilts. I love the Schnibble Parade Day! I need to run out to get some stuffing myself for the next project. It looks like fun!
Another beautiful parade of Schnibbles/Little Bites. :-)
I'm anxious to do some pincushions but I want to be on your Christmas List. teehee! Very cute, Sherri.
Can these Little Drops be any more adorable? I think every one of them is just so cute! And your pincushions are too! I knew they would be addicting!
Adorable parade! Mine is Double Chocolat~ it took me a while to figure out the candies I used because DH threw out the wrappers. LOL I love the pincushions! Thanks for all you do each month to make it so fun for us!
So many gorgeous little quilts! Love your pin cushions too.
Thank you so much for this GREAT post. I was wondering what to give my girlfriends - we meet once a month for lunch and have for the last 10 years - there are four of us so I need to make three gifts and I have bought the Rosie's book for making pincushions.
What a wonderful parade! Oh I can't wait to do some pin cushions! CUTE!
Isn't it wonderful how different each one is??
They all turned out beautiful. It is amazing how fabric can make one pattern look different on all those quilts. I say everyone did a great job.
I love those pincushions. I think I need to start collecting twill tape so I have a nice collection to use on things like this. Because I don't already collect enough crap. :-)
such cute little pincushions. I like the way you used the tape measure twill tape.
love the parade.
Love the pincusion pattern. Your versions turned out cute.
Very cute pincushions! Love the little quilts. Happy December to you, too!
Beautiful parade once again! I cannot wait to get started with my pincushion now!
All beautiful as usual :-) Thanks so much Sherri, Sinta, and Carrie too!
