Playing Catch-Up

The first couple of weeks of summer are generally a time when I get caught up on all those things that have piled up or fallen by the wayside during the traditionally busy last few weeks of the school year.  I really don't like to get behind on block-of-the-month projects, so I couldn't wait for a day to get caught up!  First I finished the last 3 FatQuarterShop Designer Mystery Blocks from 2010, and then I did block 1 for the 2011 Designer Mystery quilt.  I love them all, and now I can't wait to set together my 2010 quilt!

I made a couple more Farmer's Wife quilt along blocks too--Block 25, Cups & Saucers, and Block 6, Big Dipper, pictured first in my Fig Tree version.

And pictured here in my Flurry version!

I've been staying away from the templates, figuring out the math in some of the block sections with the help of these two amazing rulers, Monique Dillard's Fit to be Quarter ruler and Mini Fit to be Geese ruler. The Fit to be Quarter ruler is a new ruler, and I'll be talking more about it in an upcoming post--I absolutely love it and the range of block sizes you can use it for!

6 Fig Tree blocks, and as Monica says--105 to go! And I really do need to start making some of the blocks that require a template--I don't want to be left with all template-only blocks at the end!

And 6 Flurry blocks--not sure how many of these I'll make--50 maybe? I'll probably make a lap-size version with these!  Anyway...it sure feels good to be almost caught up--hopefully by the end of the week I can start on a few things I've had on the list for a little while!

Don't forget, you can still enter the SewObsessed Giveaway here!

I got two more blocks done yesterday, spools and bat wings. I am trying to get all the 2 1/2" hst patterns done first since I use my Accuquilt Go Baby. Bat Wings was a bit of a challenge and I did not get as much of a point on the blocks as I wanted. Templates are not necessarily fun.

I haven't received my first 2011 Mystery BOM block yet. Can't wait to get it!
All your blocks look beautiful. I guess once you figured out how to use the templates, work gets so much easier. I look forward to what you have to tell about the FTBQ.

It feels great to start catching up doesn't it? Your blocks for Farmer's Wife are so fresh looking in the color scheme that you have chosen. I really like that twist to the standard turn of the century colors you see used for those blocks.

Congratulations on that catching up quilting. Your blocks all look great. Even though they're for different projects, the colors look like they would all fit together. I can't seem to catch up my quilting - it seems the more I do, the more I need to do!

Have a super day!

You have done a lot of quilting and blocks, I need to get moving too. Finally cutting out my chisels for my braid quilt, then I can sew them and maybe have it done before summer is over;)

Great blocks...all of them. First the Dear Jane craze and now Farmer's Wife...although Farmer's Wife looks more achievable! I'm going to enjoy following along.

You are always so productive with the sewing projects. Your two Farmer's Wife quilts are going to be wonderful! I can't wait to hear about the ruler and why I NEED it.

I've had the Farmer's Wife book for a while now... and I even bought some fabric for it, but I've been a bit intimidated to start something that doesn't offer detailed instructions. But, gosh darn it, I'm gonna do it! Your blocks are gorgeous. I'm looking forward to hearing more about that ruler...

You've been really busy! Your blocks are all so pretty. That's my kind of sewing -- make a few of these, make a few of those. That way you won't get bored with a single project.

As a teacher, I understand getting behind and spending the first week trying to get caught up. Glad you got to work on your projects, think I will do the same thing today:)

What great blocks Sherri! Can't wait to hear what you have to say about the quarter square ruler.

Oooh! I waited so long for the new ruler to come out, I haven't gotten it yet (every time I turn around The Benevolent Dictator has another little kid's birthday party to go to and I'm spending all my fun money on Barbies and wrapping paper). I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it!
