Just this morning I finished piecing my "Christmas Wish" quilt top which was a free block of the month design from
Gail Pan (Thanks Gail)! I'm so glad I waited to put my blocks together until I saw Gail's version...I love the scrappy sashing! The only thing I did a bit differently was I cut my outer borders 3 1/2" wide (hers are 2").

I loved working on these stitcheries each month--and since there were only 9 blocks, I'll have plenty of time to get this quilted in time for Christmas. This was a free quilt for me--I only used fabrics from my stash!

Oh, and I spent some time this week cleaning and organizing my sewing space...what is it about a clean cutting surface that somehow brings to mind tons of new projects to start? Maybe it's a good thing my table doesn't always look this clean!
Be back soon with lots more to share!
Thanks to so many of you who have posted such wonderful remembrances of this date in history; we must remember and be grateful always for those who keep watch.

And you're right...there's something very motivational about a neat and tidy sewing room. It seems to clear the cobwebs somehow.
Now if only it could stay that way.
How funny! I, too, am in the process of cleaning my sewing space and the closet stuffed with fabrics. And I love the scrappy look of your sashing. I do believe I will steal that idea! It's a very beautiful quilt.

I am working on the last block at the moment. It has been such an enjoyable project, thanks to Gail's generousity. I have really enjoyed looking at your blog and the lovely things you have made1 Bye for now, Sandy (in Australia)

Your Christmas Wish quilt is beautiful! I'm going to stitch this one next year.
Your " A Christmas wish" is just lovely! I'm making this too, and I have also planned to something like yours, with the squares between the blocks. I have a lot of Christmas fabrics I bought years ago, and I will use them in mine. I have been a fan of Benartex's fabric lines from the books of Nancy Halvorsen (Art to Heart), so I have a few yrds ;o)
Wish you a great weekend :o)
Laila
