This Weekend

This weekend I got to go on a little get-away with my husband. He had a meeting early Saturday morning in St. George, so we drove up Friday night and had a nice dinner with Cold Stone after! Saturday morning we had a little Christmas shopping to do... and of course I had to look for fabric on sale! First I found some Moda "Swell" on 50% off, so I got a few 1/2 yards to add to my stash. Next I found a treasure trove of fabric at Ben Franklin. I don't ususually shop there for fabric, but was really happy to find that all of their Christmas was 40% off! They had lots of Moda and Michael Miller, so I started making a pile. I got mostly 1/4 and 1/2 yard pieces since I'm sure everything will go 75% later (but just in case, I had to get some now)! I did get bigger pieces of some Christmas whites and the Michael Miller dot that I'm planning on using for my cottage sashing.
I was able to get some gifts finished up this weekend as well. I decided to make pillows out of some of my little Christmas stitcheries. When I started these I wasn't exactly sure who I was going to give them to, but as I worked on them this weekend I decided on their recipients.
And, I played a little with my sewing machine. I've had this machine nearly 12 years and never tried the quilting bar. It works great!

Hoping to get a few more gifts done today. I thought I would be done by now, but I keep thinking of other things to make, or I think what I've made isn't enough and I need to make more--do you ever do that? Merry sewing to all!

Now that I saw your quilting bar, I think I have one of those too, but never realized what it is for. I'll have to take a look tomorrow. Good to show us!!! I feel a little bit stupid though (ugh).
Have a very nice and creative week!

Oh I hear you with the ..."oh is that enough" - I do that all the time when I am shopping for or making gifts....! that fabric looks lovely all stacked up....lucky you finding sales! I am going to finish my Christmas shopping on Monday but no fabric shops where I am going...more's the pity! But it will keep me focussed on the job at hand tho! Those little pillows look awesome!....and I have had my machine for ten years and used the quilting bar for the first time a couple of weeks ago..makes grid quilting easy....!

Hey Sherri,
You got some goods deal on the fabric. Your pillows are very cute. I have used my quilting bar several times. It sure comes in handy so you don't have to mark a quilt the old fashioned way.

I have a new Pfaff sewing maching and am still learning how to use all those accessory thingos that came with it :)

Love the new additions to your fabric stash! Those pillows are awesome. I'm ashamed to say I've never used my quilting bar either (had my machine for 3 years now). I think I'm going to try it out after the holidays, thanks for the nudge. Thanks for sharing all the goodies.

I am just excited for you that you actually were able to accomplish making one thing. I can't even seem to get into to my studio so I am impressed. I have lots of thoughts for gifts and bought fabric and books but sadly the stores won this year and I am buying almost everything.
