A Few More Finishes and a Give-Away!

Last week I made a "Crossroads table runner" from the book Charmed and Dangerous by Heather Mulder Peterson. It went together like a dream, so this morning I made another one using some fall charm squares. I think I will be making a couple more of these as well!
My Christmas cottages for the exchange hosted by Nanette and Terri are done...all 12 of them. Well, they're almost done--I just need to add rick rack along the rooflines. Some will have red rick rack while others will have green or white ric rack! It's going to be fun getting the exchange blocks and picking sashings and borders. And there are so many creative cottages out there...I'm really enjoying looking at them on the other blogs!

A couple of people mentioned doing Halloween cottages...so of course I had to rummage through my Halloween fabrics and make a few of those. I'm going to make a small wallhanging out of these...and of course they will get some rick rack as well!

And, it's time to announce my first give-away! I think it's going to be a lot of fun. You can click on the scarecrow on my sidebar to go to the Fall Into Fall Give-away blog that lists all the other blogs participating, or you can click here. A couple have already posted their give-aways (wow--there are some really amazing give-aways out there!), and the rest should be posting by October 1st. I will accept comments until October 14th, and I will announce the winner on October 15th. Oh...and what am I giving away? I'm giving away the cute little turkey pillow, the fabric basket and the five fat quarters of "Pumpkin Spice" by the Buggy Barn pictured above! Oh, and one more thing, in your comment please tell me your favorite gift to make for others...I'm always looking for fun ideas to make for gifts!
That's all for now...hoping to get a lot of sewing done today! Happy sewing!
UPDATE: Rhonda is the winner! Thanks to younger daughter for her random number drawing from 1 to 193! (I never thought I'd get that many entries)!

This won't help you for ideas, but my favorite thing to make is bed quilts; I'm always worried if I make something small for decor, it won't get used, but you can always use a quilt on your bed, even if it doesn't match. Right now, thought, I am having a blast making aprons for the women in my family.

This turkey pillow is just to cute. I've made quilted coasters and added alittle dash of cinnamon to them. Thanks for a chance.

You are so talented. I love all of your work that you have pictures of. I am a beginner and most of my work so far has been baby blankets. I love making matching bibs, burb cloths and blankets. Everyone that I have given them to seems to enjoy them.

i love your give away items. I don't have a favorite thing to make to giveaway, I like to try new things, make a few and give away. My last projects I gave to my 2 sisters were table place mats.

I love that funny little turkey! Your blocks are so fun too.

My favorite gift to make is a tablerunner, because it's small enough to make in an afternoon, but big enough to showcase fabrics and leave the recipient feeling like you really put effort out on their behalf.

Hope my luck holds and you pick my name! :)

My favorite thing to make and give are these baskets my kids and I make each year for Christmas. They include, table runner, fudge, banana bread, homemade jam/jelly, and rock candy. My kids think they are too old to do this anymore, but they still show up every year to help. Maybe it's just to like the bowls and 'sample' the goods.
Thanks for including me in your drawing....

Last year for a yearly retreat I attend I made pincushions for each retreater. They were shaped like strawberrys. This year I made a little sewing bag with sewing related fabrics. I always know my quilting friends will love the gifts I make them!

Your work is beautiful and I enjoy seeing your photos. My favorite gift is to make a matching kitchen set....placemats, table runner, potholder, coasters, hot pads, and sometimes even matching window valances. (Of course, none of that is original, so I'm guessing it won't give you any good ideas, but that's what I like to do and the recipients always like it, too.)

Janice said...

I love the turkey pillow and the table runner is beautiful. I am constantly knitting dishclothes so I always have a good supply on hand for giving away. I also like to make placemats and hot pads for gift giving.

Rebecca said...

Right now I'm having fun making table runners, cheque book covers, fabric baskets - and I hope to find some more ideas before Christmas.
