Happy Wednesday! At the end of last week, my Month 5 packet arrived for my Fig Tree red and green mystery sampler. I was so excited to see two patterns I’ve been wanting to make: can you believe I’ve never done a bow-tie quilt or a Tree of Life block?
So of course I set out to get these blocks made as quickly as I could!
A “Tree of Life” quilt has actually been on my to-do list for some time. I have a super fun pattern in mind and hope to get to it one of these days with a big collection of half-square triangles I’ve saved just for that project. So it was fun to make this one block and get a little idea of how much fun this pattern can be.
It went together pretty quickly once all of the half-square triangles were finished up and trimmed!
The bow-tie blocks had me at first sight, too. The bow-tie was one of my Grandmother’s favorite quilt blocks, and she made a beautiful bow-tie quilt she named in honor of my Grandfather who always wore bow ties. I can’t remember making a true bow-tie quilt before, so this was fun to get to make a scrappy bow-tie block.
Now that I’m caught up on my red and green quilt blocks, maybe I can get to some other projects that have been needing my attention.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Love these squares!! How much bigger do you make your half square triangles before you trim them down to size? Everything always looks so perfect!!

Love both blocks and a quilt with just these would look amazing I'm sure. Perhaps the tree block in the middle and then some bow ties around? Mmh, now you give me ideas.
