This is definitely a project to classify as a “work in progress.” I thought it would go a little more quickly, but sometimes it’s good to have one of those projects that helps you slow down a bit. I really want to make a full-size quilt using this pattern some day, but for now I’m just making a pillow using my Flea Market Fancy scraps.
I’m piecing it completely by hand using these paper piecing templates. As I sew I’ve been trying to decide what fabrics to use when I start my full-size version. Scrappy? 30’s Reproductions? Modern? I can’t decide.
Yesterday I finished the “Liverpool” tunic (pattern by Amy Butler). I just need to take some pictures, and then I’ll share them along with a pattern review. Have a sew wonderful day!

When I did my daughter's wedding quilt, I used colors that she liked which were in greens, rust, and creams. When I do another one, I want to do it in 1930s fabrics. There's just something so sweet about those with that pattern:)
Yours that you are working on is in some very pretty fabrics as well:)
It's interesting doing it with the paper pieces. I used templates from Quilting from the Heartland with Sharlene Jorgenson. I loved working on that quilt!!

Love that double wedding ring! I can't wait to see your tunic. I love Amy Butler patterns, so I look forward to your review of this one! I just reviewed her book of baby patterns on my blog yesterday and showed a project I made from that.

Are those arcs made with English paper piecing? How cool! How do you complete the quilt? I'm guessing you applique the arcs to a background fabric?
Needled Mom says
That is one of those "someday" projects on my list.

I've wanted to make that Amy Butler pattern for ages, so look forward to seeing what you made and how it turned out!

I'm hand piecing one at the moment in 1930's fabrics and have used templates. I've been working on it for about 3 1/2 years now but it is my long term project. I work on other projects at the same time. I find it comes together rather quickly (if I don't talk too much at Guild!). I'm up to ring number 18. I haven't decided yet if it will have 20 or 25 rings. I'll see how 20 rings look on the bed.

The DWR will look great in the FMF. I love paper piecing!

I guess that pattern would take some time…you have chosen pretty colors.

Oh my goodness Sherri! This one's going to take forever. Good thing you always have something you're working on 🙂

Hand piecing??? Not for me at all but I can't wait to see your finished project. Might be a good project to work on during a road trip?? I'd love to read your review of the AB pattern as well as see your tunic. My daughter loves clothing like that.
QUESTION! – I posted this at Rosie's blog but never got an answer. Do you think the RECESS Schnibbles would work with a Jelly Roll?? I've looked at it and have considered buying it because I THINK it would work but I wondered if you could verify that. I won a JR of the same fabric used on the pattern cover.
Jackie says
You're pillow is going to be cute! Are you going to hand piece the quilt too? A DWR is definitely on my one day list.

I think whatever fabric you end up choosing will be awesome, I adore the bright contemporary stuff, but sometimes more traditional is lovely too! I am doing paper piecing (hexies) for the first time and am using a sewline glue pen instead of tacking, I have never tried the other way, but it's supposed to speed things up quite a bit. If it's therapeutic though don't mess with it!

Cool stuff.
