Happy Friday! Since our The Front Porch fabric collection is on it’s way to stores, I thought today would be a great day to answer questions about some coordinating solids as well as some coordinating Aurifil thread colors that work well with this fabric collection.
I’m really excited for this fabric to be available in shops and to be able to see
what quilters do with this fun collection! It is a beautiful collection with such a terrific variety of prints and colors: low volume prints, beautiful blues and navy, and red, coral, and green! There are floral designs and geometric basic prints.
I used these low-volume prints as much as I could in all of the quilts and projects I sewed (I ended up running out of most of them after sewing the sample quilts)–using low-volume prints adds such a depth of texture to the quilts! The top print with the text above is my favorite. But really, how can you go wrong with any of these?
This might be my favorite photo of these fabrics; it’s hard to tell it was over 115 outside when this photo was taken!
If you are looking for a background fabrics and solids to coordinate with this collection, I suggest the following:
- Moda Bella Ivory 9900 60
- Moda Bella Geranium 9900-258
- Moda Bella Pistachio 9900-134
- Moda Bella Spray 9900-263
- Moda Bella Navy 9900-20
- Moda Bella Goldenrod 9900-81 (There isn’t actually a yellow fabric in the collection; however, we used this Bella solid in our projects for Quilts & More magazine and loved how it looked with the collection. You can see the projects with the Bella Goldenrod added here).
(Fat Quarter Shop has all of their Bella solids on sale now through the end of the month–links above)!
Coordinating Aurifil Threads:
(The Aurifil threads are on sale right now as well–I’m not sure how long this sale lasts)!
Yardage of The Front Porch fabric is also available now here with pre-cuts available very soon!
Hope your weekend is off to a wonderful start! Thanks so much for stopping by!

I love your new fabric so much that I ordered a half yard bundle from FQS. I’m thinking of making your Pink Lemonade quilt. I love the Checkerboard quilt and Basket quilt too.

Sherri, you know I love this pile, as I received a prize last year with a little gem inside one of the boxes- a mini charm pack of your collection. I am lucky, because I see these prints in person and they are the sweetest ever
I love the moda solid choices

So pretty! I have to find a Moda Matcher. I think some of your low volume prints might work in my next Round Robin. So weird, my mom and I both started with pink/green – totally unplanned. We do not normally sew with that combination. I think we are harboring thoughts of spring. Your new line is so inspiring!
