I’ve been sewing on a project I can’t share just yet…but I did get “Mon Ami” back from the quilter recently and am hoping to finish the binding soon.
Along the fabric front, I’ve been keeping good track of my stash this week…a lot came in, but a lot went out. I made a little chart of pre-cut yardages to help me with my calculations each week (these just apply to Moda pre-cuts which have a standard 42 pieces in each Layer Cake, Jelly Roll, and Charm Pack). A Charm Pack is ⅞ yard, a Honey Bun is 1 ¾ yard, a Jelly Roll comes in at 2 ⅞ yards, and a Layer Cake adds 3 ⅛ yards to your stash. Fat Quarter Bundles vary, but the biggest ones are 10 yards!
So…in this week was 10 yards for a store sample I’ve been working on (this includes the back and binding). Also in was some Ruby Star Rising by Melody Miller (because I love it), and some Make Life for a backing.
I found some green fat quarters and a couple of the pink prints from Denyse Schmidt’s Greenfield Hill…(I want to make this quilt eventually).
And I also added a Pom Pom de Paris charm pack; I was worried this line would be too “pink” for my liking, but I just love it. There are some gorgeous yellows in this collection that I love as well. I’m going to combine this with some other French General fabrics and wish I had ordered a layer cake rather than a charm pack–it’s just that gorgeous! So, 16 ⅛ yards came in this week, but since I finished up these two quilts I had 10 ⅞ yards that I was able to count as “stash used.” For year to date this amounts to 28 ½ yards in, 24 ⅞ used with 3 ⅝ net added to the stash. Not too bad…as long as I keep finishing up those partially finished projects!
Oh…and I’ll have some more binding to do soon…Judi has just finished quilting my first Bliss quilt (pattern “Paper Roses” by Fig Tree & Company)! To see her beautiful work on this quilt go here!

It must be a trick of the pros but being a mother of sons I do not have the hairclips to hold the binding in place. Brilliant!
Are they oversized (to be found at my fav quilt store) or are they the size sold at the grocery store? Such a better idea than superfine pins that always prick me while stitching.

The yardage IN and OUT is another fab idea I will have to add to my stash slashing blog entries.
My, My, My = you are a marvel.
