Happy August! Wow…summer is really going fast, isn’t it?! I’m excited to share a brand new Schnibbles pattern…”Canasta.” This brand new Schnibbles pattern is available here. I might have a little picture overload of this new pattern because it’s my favorite Schnibble ever. Up until now “Good Fortune” was my favorite, but well…”Canasta” now has the top spot in my book!
For one thing, I love basket blocks, and these baskets are adorable. I love the little four-patch centers, I love the cute handles, and I love the size…the baskets finish at 5″!
I also love the setting…I’d much rather add some thin sashing to blocks like these than have to worry about setting them together with all the seams! (By the way, I set my blocks a little differently than the cover quilt, and I also chose to use my background fabric for sashing).
Another reason I love this quilt is the fabric. Seriously, I’ve made several quilts using this collection (Avalon by Fig Tree & Company), but this is the first one for me…yay!!! Another note about the pattern…there is a smaller option available which will also be fine for the parade…it uses just 13 basket blocks instead of 25 (but when you start making these blocks I have a feeling you’re going to want the larger version). My quilt measures about 34 ½″ by 43 ½″ (unquilted)–the perfect size for a wall hanging!
Another thing to love about this pattern–piano key borders are the best…I just love how this one ties everything together! As soon as I finished mine I started thinking of all the great collections that would be fantastic for this pattern. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
And now…lets get on with the “Lincoln” parade…there are some spectacular quilts here!
I have a few favorites among the quilts I’ve seen so far (don’t forget to check out the rest of the quilts at Sinta’s parade), and this is one of them. I absolutely love this fun, bright, modern, happy version made by Kristen!
Karen made a gorgeous version too…I’m thinking I also need a deck to photograph my quilts!
Kim made this sweet version…I think you’re going to love them all!
I love Joanne’s Lincoln quilt, too! I think I need a wood fence for quilt photography!
And Connie made this soothing quilt with blues, yellows, and greens!
Elizabeth made an absolutely gorgeous quilt she has very appropriately named “Citrus.”
Jennifer‘s version is also very summery…I love it!
Judith used some beautiful soothing fabrics…I love her version too!
And how fun is this quilt by Carol. Fabrics are “The Boo Crew” by Sweetwater! This is another one of my favorites this time around!
Cindy made a beautiful elegant version and has already hung her quilt!
And Abby just finished her fun version!
Barb made a runner-style quilt with her blocks…beautiful!
Beatrice used some beautiful patriotic fabrics by Minick & Simpson!
And here is another sweet version by Brenda!
Carol (no blog) used PB&J and has really made me want to use my PB&J stash soon. I love how these fabrics work together, and I love Carol’s variations to the pattern!
Gail also made a beautiful patriotic version!
Gerri’s quilt is absolutely beautiful, too!
Gretchen used an early Kate Spain line (the first, I think–I’m still hoarding pieces of this collection)…I love it!
Hildy also made a beautiful version!
Jackie made this beautiful “Lincoln.”
And Jodi used some Bonnie & Camille fabrics for hers…fun!
Karen made another beautiful patriotic version…
And Pamela made this “Lincoln!”
Donna changed up the pattern quite a bit, focusing on the star blocks with her colorful version.
And last, but not least, we have this gorgeous quilt by Tanya! Every quilt is beautiful. Be sure to visit Sinta’s blog for the rest of the “Lincoln” parade…and have a wonderful day!

I love a good parade. Love baskets too. I made those blocks on point from a Fons and Porter magazine many years ago. They used 13 baskets as well. It's such an easy block to put together. I love your fabric choice. Looking forward to the Basket Parade!

I would LOVE to know if you recall where you got the beautiful quilt hanger that you hung YOUR schnibble on? LOVE it (and all the beautiful schnibbles, of course!).

Thanks for hosting the parade! I know I say it often, but if I ever remake a Schnibble, it will be Lincoln. There are so many creative and beautiful versions here! I'm loving the idea of a basket quilt for next time, too. I am eager to decide on fabrics and get cutting.

This is a great parade of Schnibbles–I can see a lot of us had "sweet" and "light" on our minds. There are a lot of variations. Thanks for hosting this parade!
