Hello! Some days don’t go as planned…and that’s what happened over here this weekend when El Nino brought some unexpected changes to the weekend plans!
I had plans for quite a bit of sewing when the power unexpectedly went out.
Since the weather didn’t seem too crazy, I figured I would cut out some blocks and be ready to sew when the power came back on.
Getting things prepared and ready to sew is a big part of quilting as every quilter knows. But I didn’t realize our power would be out for 18 hours! We made the best of it by barbecuing the dinner we were going to cook on the stove and visiting with family over our camp lanterns.
So it wasn’t until Monday afternoon that I was finally able to sit down and start catching up on my Splendid Sampler blocks. I love this block by Natalia that looks so bold and modern in the pattern picture and yet is a very sweet block in my Fig Tree scraps.
I have one more Splendid Sampler block to catch up on from the weekend…and due to the power outage the Quilt Your Stash posts will resume next week!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

It always amazes me how much fabric choice can change the look and feel of a block or quilt. I can see an example that does absolutely nothing for me and later see the same pattern or block In other fabrics and I am in love with it!
On another note, since you have now created two fabric collections and many, many patterns, what would you think of updating your photos in your blog header to reflect your own designs? I like the present photos, but they show what you have sewn using others' designs and I think it would be nice to see a reflection of your own designs.

Your Spendid Sampler blocks are absolutely SPLENDID!! Love the soft colors. I've been trying to avoid this quilt along, but I don't know how much longer I can resist!!

Wow! enough rain to take to power out!! You all need the rain, so I'm glad some arrived for you. Your blocks look great, but I guess I've decided that I'll have to pass this quilt by. But I'm going to do the Crossroads quilt along and am very excited to use all my old Fig Tree fabrics!! And I agree with Nancee (above): you should put up at least one picture on your header of your fabric! Just consider it sharing, not bragging! 🙂 Hugs, H

Your blocks are so pretty as usual. I still have not started my Splendid Sampler blocks. I am working on my Fig Tree Mystery BOM blocks yesterday and today so that I am caught up on those at least. 🙂 Please keep posting your Splendid blocks to inspire to get started!
