Happy Tuesday…and welcome to what is really the Scraps Monday post! It was cloudy and rainy yesterday (so appreciative of the moisture), but it didn’t make for good photos!
I’m taking the last week of the month to only work on scrap projects, nothing new until next week. But since my “Go Four It” quilt along quilt is a scraps project, I’m working on it. I still have background squares to cut, but I took a break and put a couple blocks together…240 more to go!
And I have a fun tip to share today too…
I can’t claim credit for this…but I asked YellowFarmHouse if I could share (I saw it on her Instagram first) and could hardly wait to get to Target to pick up an extra drawer divider. You can see the bin my strips were previously in on the left and compare it to how wonderful it is to have them separated by color on the right. I’m thinking of heading to our local dollar store today to see if I can find a couple more dividers. I can organize Christmas strips this way and on and on…the possibilities!
I really think this is going to be wonderful for scrappy strip quilts…I can separate the strips by color and have different bins for different sizes of strips. I just love it when a little idea motivates me to use those scraps.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Judy Martin published this trick with a divider many years ago.

Target, go to Goodwill or a thrift store instead….

I hadn't seen this before and I think it's a great idea! I'm so tired of trying to find my strips when I want them: some are in plastic bags or, even worse, in opaque bins (definitely out of sight, out of mind!). Thanks for passing this along and I really look forward to seeing your finished project.

scraps are wonderful to work with – it is great when we all get a system going to use them

I love that idea!! I've never seen it before, and I've been quilting so long that I'm not sure the year I started! 🙂 I love your quilt blocks too: they look great! I need to get going on it again: too many quilts going, and too little time for sewing! Have a great week!! Hugs, H

Great idea! I put my scrpa in plastic bags and truth be told it's such a mess that I rather cut 'new' fabric scraps than using the 'old' ones. This tip might be a good solution:-)

Sherri, I found some nice, larger sizes for a great price at IKEA. They work really well. Love you tips!

This is a superb idea. I love all of the comments ^^
Well, I could go online and get 100 of these things hahaha. Right now, my scraps are in a huge mountain up stairs in a bed room. Seriously, don't tell any one.
Have a fun day
Those blocks are adorable

TSK… I got new silverware for Christmas and they wouldn't fit in the old holder. So I sent it off to the thrift store AND NOW I WANT IT BACK! (smile)

Oh! That is a great idea! I know I have a cute bamboo one somewhere in my basement that would be perfect for this!
